I dont have results right off-hand. Only this year am I becoming more familiar with many of the cars/drivers. But they had a lot of cars in each class. And tonight (friday) was a damn good race. The heats were awesome. The track was worn out by the A Mains - but I thought that was good racing as well. There wasn't much left on the bottom and the middle didn't lay rubber/come back till the last few races. They pushed the cushion all the way to the wall. Got the track really wet and it held that moisture for a while. The good thing about it being one groove at the top - unlike 1 groove on the bottom - it made for some great slide jobs.

But it also left folks fighting for small amounts of real estate. And there was a few extremely nasty wrecks. One I know for sure was taken out in the ambulance I think on a stretcher/gurney - whatever they call em - 2 cars got together and into the front straight wall - we could feel the impact in the stands - and the sound was horrific. I hope that chap is not injured too badly and ends up ok. Kenzie Ruston had a really nasty wreck - I am not sure if she left in the ambulance or not. Andrew Felker put on a show all night - in 3 different classes. Fun to watch him race - same with #23 in the .... not sure .....restricted? or was it A Class? Hell I dont know - he had a rear end that looked like Sammy Swindell's at the Chili Bowl. And he looked like Swindell flying around that track and puttin in good moves in lapped traffic. I think that track is great - it sure is fast. They were hauling it into turn 1 hard all night - right up by the wall. I feel like I got a hell of a deal for 8$ - this race was better than a bunch of races I have seen for double the amount.

The weather was weird. It got down to upper 50's - which dont seem that cold - but the wind was relentless - it got stronger as the night went on. Oh yeah - it was near 2am when the race was over. They did get started about an hour late - heard they had issues with so many cars there and that there was a line goin way out the place when they had planned to be hotlapping. sorry I dont have results - i should have recorded at least the winners.

If there was any question left in my mind on where to go tomorrow night - tonight settled it. I'll be back at I-44. Just with 2 layers and some handwarmers lol. Which brings me to my next thought. They really need to get started on time tomorrow night. It will be warmer than today was up until sunset. And will be very relative to tonight at first. But a cold front will be coming thru around 8-9pm (accounts vary - some say earlier and some later). Point is - tomorrow will be like tonight until 10-11pm - but then will drop off sharply unlike tonight. with wind switching to north and temps droppin off. For the sake of how fun it will be to watch the features - they need to start on time.

I-44 doesn't get much press. and the little they do is negative much of the time. But Night 1 of the Ryan Craighead Memorial was damn good. And I look forward and hope to more of the same night 2. And I am already hoping that I-44 makes a very good schedule change. They have their Winter Nationals with ASCS2 scheduled for the same weekend as SFS Winter Nationals. But it is TENTATIVE. thats good - I hope they change it and run it 1 week before. I would gladly stay in the metro for that show rather go down to Lawton. I-44 is a racy lil joint that reminds me of Lawton before they screwed it up - but just a bit smaller. I dont know bout goin there every week, but.......I am all for goin there when ASCS2 is there. ASCS2 is a hell of a series. I didn't realize until tonight - I have seen quite a bit of them this year. The Tulsa Shootout, the big Cowtown race, and now this weekend. I thoroughly enjoy all their shows. I've been to a few - and a few more where they ran support up at Creek - and I have never seen a bad ASCS2 race. They are extremely exciting to watch. I think I will try to make even more of them this year. I really hope I get to see ASCS2 at I-44 at the end of the year - but would also like to see them at Dutton's - I have never been there. Not familiar with the rest of their schedule, but like I say - I'd like to see them often.

So thanks to ASCS2 and I-44 for the great race they put on tonight. I hope tomorrow is just as good. Those reading this who are able should come check it out. Great facility, great track, great racing, great series there (ASCS2), and a ton of cars.......for 8$ - can't beat that!!! but bring a heavy jacket and a blanket - oh - and the kids too lol wink

and btw if its your thing - they do sell cold beer now lol. and I'll try to record heat winners and podium/top 5 tomorrow night and other details so I can post it here after the race tomorrow night. I should have tonight - but what can I say - its the beginning of the year - it takes a sec. to get back into form/rhythym lol.

Cody. great report on the nights racing. I was there too and witnessed the same. Only my admission fee was $8 unlike the dyslexics figure you reported as "8 $".

Common knowledge and proper english tells us that the "$" dollar symbol in all cases preceeds the amount.

Keep up the good work dude. and please by all means keep our dear freind Mr. Webster in mind.

The number 23 in A class that administered a butt whooping was Jason Lair. Him and his dad are super people and Jason can make a car fly at I-44. He looked really good. I finally left at 1am while they were loading the non-wing guy on the back board. Great racing and Clyde said they will start on time tonight.

That was Kenny Adams that was hurt. He raced at Enid last year and we were told he hurt is neck and back and is still is in the hospital. We here at Enid took up a collection for his medical cost and the drivers and fans came up with $431.50 and the the promoters matched it for a total of $863.00. I know it wont last long but we all here at Enid know him pretty good and he is a stand up guy and that just felt so good and the right thing to do. Kenny you are in a lot of peoples prayers. Hope to see or talk to you soon.

Would do it for any driver. We all should stick together and help a fellow driver in need.
