FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY HOSTS SIX DIVISION SHOW THIS SATURDAY!

(MARCH 31, 2009, PERRIS, CA) This Saturday night, April 4th, Perris Auto Speedway will host a another huge night of racing featuring the California Lightning Sprint Cars, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Modifieds, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks and the return of the Sport Compacts. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 PM with the first heat race at 4:00 and the first main event at 6:30.

The Super Stocks, Street Stocks and Modifieds will all be competing on the famous PAS half-mile with the Lightning Sprints, Factory Stocks and Sports Compacts on the rejuvenated PAS quarter mile.

"What may be the most intriguing is the Lightning Sprints on the ΒΌ mile," PAS promoter Don Kazarian said on Monday. "They normally race on the half-mile with wings on. This Saturday the wings come off and they will be racing on the small track. It will only be the second time we have seen them at The PAS without the wings. On the tighter small track, it promises to be very exciting."

To those who are uninitiated the California Lightning Sprint Cars are a smaller version of a full size Sprint Car. They have a maximum 73" wheelbase and they are powered by potent self starting four cylinder motorcycle engines with a 1200cc maximum.

"What is fun to watch with the Lightning Sprints is who we will be seeing sometime down the road in the USAC/CRA Series," Kazarian said. "The series has produced a lot of stars including defending USAC/CRA champion Mike Spencer, David Cardey (Spencer and Cardey finished first and second in last week's USAC/CRA race at The PAS), Greg Bragg, Darren Hagen and Tyler Brown just to name a few."

Saturday's Lightning Sprint Car race will be the third of 11 at The PAS in 2009 and their fourth overall race of the season. Murrieta teenage driver Stuart Hielshcer Jr. (who competes against his father and brother in the series) won the season opener at The PAS on March 7th. One week later defending series champion Brent Sexton of Lakeside won the main event at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway. Last week, John Bluntach notched his first ever win in a Lightning Sprint Car and it came at The PAS, which is the series home track in 2009.

Also making their debut on the quarter-mile will be the Sport Compact cars. Saturday's Sport Compact race will be the first at The PAS since 2006.

According to Kazarian, "The Sport Compact class is an entry level class that we are brining back in 2009. This is strictly a trophy class now. It is a place for someone to learn how to race. Someone can go out and buy a car for a few hundred bucks and be on the track. They should be a lot more competitive and fun to watch on the quarter-mile. They used to get to spread out when we had them on the half-mile in the past."

Opening night main event winners Ed Perry (2008 Super Stock champion) in the Super Stocks, Henry Wesolowski Sr. (2006 Street Stock Champion) in the Street Stocks, Larry Lord in the Modifieds and Mike Burks in the Factory Stocks are all expected to be in action this Saturday night.

Early arriving fans can enjoy two for the price of one food items from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. This offer excludes beverages and value menu items.

Saturday fender bending display of dirt track aggression will include heats and main event for all of the classes. Oh yeah, it will include its share of crashes destined to leave those involved with varying amounts of racetrack rheumatism when they crawl out of bed on Sunday morning.

Advance tickets for this Saturday are available in advance by calling 1-800-595-4849. They can also be ordered on the Internet at tix.com or perrisautospeedway.com.

For more information call The PAS at: (951) 940-0134.
