Good question Pete! I also heard that there were a LOT of other issues on the weekend. I will list them and may be some one has an explanation. Here it goes.
1. The officals messed up the schedule and have non wing cars on the 4th but the head guy(who sounds like a waste of space) had the rebel 360 wings on his schedule. Example of the left hand not knowing what the right hands is doing.
2. Someone drew a pill after draws had closed and was awarded with the number one spot, sounded like a few teams got pissed . Guess the track was going away fast.
3. They said the score board never worked so no one had times except the ones the announcer gave but when the line-up were posted nothing jived.
4.Around 8:30 the put cars on the track and let the fans on the front stretch for AUTOGRAPHS, you kidding me, that stuff is for after the races. I have never seen that up here any where. Now they are behind schedule.
5. Apparently some one made up a rule that said you have x amount of time to get on the track and the last two cars to be pushed off got penilized to the rear?????? Oh and one was on the poll
6. Now for the 20 lap question (Reminder they are running last cause the autograph party). I guess the car that was to start on the poll managed to find his way up to second place but was out of time. I was told no one was ever told of going 20 laps. The night ended at 11:30pm
7. As if it couldn't get any worse the announcer called the wrong driver as the leader and winner all race. Peter Murphy won their team car was 5th.
8. Sounds like that was the first night ever at an attempt to run a race. Poor communication for the officals can makes for a bad night.

Wow, seriosly...almost sorry I axed. Those are the repeated issues (and similar) to what was dealt with last season. I hoped they would have those issues resolved and worked out before the hot weather comes and makes the track an issue again. Autographs are not as important as the actual racing fans are paying for right?
One of our biggest fights last year was over creating phantom rules or procedures, it is a Bandit SOP to do everything possible to let racers race while maintaining an orderly and fairly run event. I believe that is largely why the competition group helped come to the conclusion that more couldn't be done with the venue unless or until those things get ironed out. Many want(ed) to give Kings the benefit of the doubt and give them a try, including those drivers reps. I hope they figure it out- doesn't seem to complicated.
LOL, maybe they oughta hire me to straighten it out...when heck freezes over, right?

I have no ideal when the decision was made to decrease the number of laps to 20. I did not see it posted when there was the second lineup (complete line-up change without information on why is really frustrating and gives concern on who assures fairness).
It wasted more time trying to get the race started because of the missing car on the pole than whatever few seconds the Vanderweerd cars were pushed off later than the rest. One father solely taking car of two cars that night...if they were late it couldn't have been by much.
My hats off to Richard as he drove one hell of a race on a one groove track. To get that far in 20 laps is commendable. To not have the last 10 to challenge for a win, due to an "autograph" session that went longer than the race, is an injustice that would make me think twice about coming back if I was that car owner.
Hats off to Davey Pombo....I was so hoping you could get that high line to work. It was the best part of the race to watch him go backwards, in spite of incredible effort to get a second line to work.
If there is a cutoff rule on time post that rule on the board.
If you are going to decrease the number of laps because of controlled events ("autograph session" vs uncontrolled events (crash, injury, etc) it will effect car count. If you cut laps this week because of the planned "Easter egg hunt" on the schedule, folks will be far less forgiving.
If you are not going to do the payout that night let folks know that early or post it on the board. We hung around way too late and nothing happened. Santa Maria always had the courtesy to mail the check which was usually received two to three days later.
I don't fault KS on taking efforts to make the show run faster. There has to be a cutoff on when you expect cars to be in place, just make it clear to all and post it so you can point to it and no one will be able to complain. But don't retard those efforts by a lengthy intermission that kills the competitiveness of your event and your show.
Respectfully submitted.........

Thank you Ms. Dias.
Frankly, I didn't think it would but was using it as an example to make a point. My concern was cutting the number of laps at any time due to other promotional events.
I have since learned that there was never any intent to decrease the number of laps and this occurred due to staff error. I was assured that if this happened again corrective measures would be taken.
I will give Frank props for his efforts. Within 24 hours of my last post I had a full explanation and our check was hand delivered. That (amoung other things like trying to keep the dust down in the pits) tells me that Frank is seriously trying to continually improve the facility and the event.
I will absolutely give Frank benefit of the doubt and will do everything I can to help this venue succeed. All efforts toward improvement of the facility and the quality of racing is appreciated.

Mr. Little,
Although we can't make everyone happy all the time Kings Speedway is giving it a hundred percent and we appreciate your positive input. Thanks again for the support.
