I've been down the Mountain to Manzy and Canyon the last two weekends and I need to save some money for the three day's I'll be down next month...Anyway, why drive 200+ miles for this?

I'd have rather hitch hiked to Perri's..

No kidding John, I would have just kicked myself in the ass if I would have went down to that show..Gee, look how exciting it's been so far. Neither the Martins or the Outlaws deserve to get my money.

I understand if you dont want to see the wangers. As for giving the Martins $$$, I think its fair to say they dont need ANY ticket $$$ at this point. Thus not going wont hurt them in the least. We all do what we feel is right. When Ascot had their last season in 1990, I was there for even stock cars, figure 8's and anything that went under power. I spent 3 nights a week there almost the entire season. Ascot wasn't closing w/o my being there. Thats why Im coming out in 2 weeks. Manzy isnt closing w/o me either!

Spencer wire to wire, holding off Dangerous Dan and then young Dave (who came pretty close at the end). Cardey had a little more in Turn 3, but the Brommemobile was on -rails- in Turn 1-2. The track ran a little dusty in the A Main.

Can anyone tell me why Rickie Gaunt was allowed to change his flat on lap 28?

You didn't drive 200+ miles altogether though did you? The money is only part of it.. I'm not going down to watch those guy's put on a exhibition, and I haven't for some time..I didn't miss a darn thing..Sometimes it's a matter principle John. I'll see every type of car that runs there in two weeks and my friends. Hell man, half the guy's I sit with are not there for the same reason, or they went to Perri's to watch Jeremy run.

Why when you always have everything so big, I need a magnifying glass to try and decipher these results..LOL

Even though they are sprint cars (not really as BigFish as stated before - only super modifieds) wouldn't I walk across the street to see the WoW. No passing and big ticket prices. Anyway I thought the Perris show was good tonight. One observation: Austin Williams (Rip's son) looked very good and was agressive as a rookie and is headed for a big career IMO. Spencer and Cardey put on a good show for the race fans. Good to see the "Cowboy" back.

Why wouldn't he??? You are told that you can change a RR and go to the back. You get 2 laps to get it done (time permitting).

Trip

Spencer and Cardey did put on a show, but the "Cowboy" was flying until his motor gave out 11th to 5th and had not a yellow came out it would have been 4th running high and low he is something to watch. Once again thank you for helping make it happen.

OK trip.. It's 1967, and we're sitting in the stands at Ascot watching the sprints with this wild eyed car builder, and he describes to us this car he's building in his garage .. He say's it's going to have a wing on the top, and you will be able to make that wing go up and down, and back forth for more traction and stability. It's going to have a wing on the front as well, to keep the front wheels down and more stability yet. He goes on to tells us some more of the other wild ideas he has for this car he's working on before he gets up and walks away.. I say, Wow trip ( I called you trip for a different reason back then) I said, Wow trip, that sounds like one bitchin Super Mod that guy's building, and you say..It sounds far out man, I wonder where he's going to race it?

Super Mod is not a bad word, and I do know one when it's described to me.

In 1967 I was in the RVN, but I would have much preferred having a beer with you @ Ascot. Smile But back then everything with a wing was a super modified. West Capital, San Jose, Covis, Madera and before than Kearney Bowl.

I posted that same thing, without you in it of course..LOL, on HOSHEADS main forum, and this guy said I sounded bitter about winged cars, and I should go see them "Will you ever just watch and try to enjoy racing"..If anyone gets that idea here, it's not true. Here's what I told him

"You must not pay much attention, or have seen not seen many of my post's. I can't remember how many winged races I've been to since they stuck them on, but it's a lot, and before they got them to this point, it was some good stuff. The Saturday show at Skagit back in the eighties was more than good for instance. The SCOA had some great show's here in AZ as well. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's loved seeing Ricky Hood in Joe's 45x both here and in N.M. All the slick 50's both years.. Should I go on? When they first started modifying sprinters they were much different than todays cars.. I've been around, and seen em run all over.. I'll tell you what, if they were my favorites, Id be pissed about what they have done to them, and it's not just the cost."

"I love super mods my friend..Some of the best that ever ran were up there in the Pacific Northwest when I lived up that way..Ever heard of Rebel Jackson, both Jr and Sr, and that bunch. The twister and those type of cars when I was here (AZ) and at Ascot? If you ever saw them at the gathering of the clan ( maybe you did) days of the Copper World, you saw some of the best super mods ever"..

"It's not a slam, it's not a derogatory statement..It's just the truth."

Kenny

"Bitter, hell no! Disappointed? You had better believe it."
