MSCS CONTINUES PREPARATIONS FOR UPCOMING SEASON

Haubstadt, IN - March 20, 2009. The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series season opener is set to be held at the Terre Haute Action Track on Saturday evening May 2nd. A rain date, if needed, has been
established for the next day Sunday May 3rd. Again this year the MSCS event will also serve as the season opener at the track. DHK Promotions is once again operating the track and will present the annual DON SMITH CLASSIC that day which will pay $3,000 to the winner of the 30 lap sprint feature. The track is located at the Vigo County Fairgrounds on U.S. Highway 41 at the south edge of Terre Haute.
....

It is once again time to remind drivers that the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series Rules do provide for the use of provisional starters to complete the field in MSCS sanctioned events. The MSCS Provisional List consists of twelve drivers. These are the top twelve drivers in points from the 2008 season.

For 2009 the Provisional List begins with two time champion Kyle Cummins and continues with runner-up Hud Cone. Third on the list is 2008 MSCS Rookie of the Year Ricky Williams. The Rookie of the Year sponsor for this season is Gross Enterprises.

Drivers looking to compete for the Gross Enterprises Rookie of the Year Honors in 2009 are reminded to send in their MSCS Driver License Application. Rookies will find a place on the application to mark their intention and thus begin an approval process.

The remainder of the drivers named on the MSCS Provisional List are Kevin Thomas Jr., Thomas Meseraull, John Memmer, Robert Ballou, Brady Short, Jeff Bland Jr., Hunter Schuerenberg, Daron Clayton, and Blake Fitzpatrick.

Last season the top six drivers on the MSCS Provisional List used either 1 or 2 provisionals as they were offered during the season. It can be a real benefit! Established drivers within the series starting at the tail of the field can add to the excitement during the feature. And these drivers get a chance to share in the feature purse money and earn more points!
....

CHANGE: The MSCS Schedule has been revised to facilitate a request from Clay County Speedway promoter Richard Burmeister that the two dates he had reserved to present MSCS racing be removed from the original 2009 schedule. The complete, revised schedule now has 16 dates with the possibility that either of these two open dates could now become race dates elsewhere or rain dates when or if needed.

Keep up with these and other changes by visiting www.mscssprints.com. Driver license applications can also be found on line.
