Here's some info for my fellow Manzy fans. Isn't this about the greatest thing?
A Race To Honor The Fans
In Appreciation to our Manzanita Speedway Fans, the ASCS Sprint Cars have added
a second main event on Saturday, April 11, 2009 and will race for the fans as a
final farewell to the closing of the Legendary Manzanita Speedway. We feel we
need to say Thank You. Without the support of our fans for over 50 years we
would not have had the opportunity to do what we love to do.
After the Scheduled ASCS Main Event is over we will take a brief intermission
to refuel and change tires for our "Last Dance" at Manzanita to show
our appreciation. This race will be a 15 lap race completely inverted from the
A Main Finishing order of earlier that night. The Winner of the 1st A Main will
start 20th in an effort to win the last trophy presented at Manzanita Speedway.
We want this to be a memorable night for our fans.
There will be no purse monies distributed for this added feature as the
Owner's and Driver's have chosen to add this feature strictly to show
our appreciation to the faithful fans that have supported them.
Our Hero's Lealand McSpadden and Ron Shuman will be on board the front row
for the Parade Lap presenting the rest of the field for a very exciting yet
emotional race. Their presence for this race has deep meaning for us all,
racers and fans.
We will call on "The Voice of Manzanita" Windy McDonald to call out
our final race.
We know this will be a late night with the added feature and ask our fans to
stay late with us to celebrate the memories we have all shared at Manzanita
Speedway.

I sure am glad I got to see a couple of races there several years ago. I hate this crap of seeing all these great tracks going away. I still miss going to the Flemington Fair Speedway (DIRT) very much.
