FOCUSES OPEN AT LAKE HAVASU & VENTURA
USAC's 2009 Ford Focus competition debuts this weekend with races at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.
The California Pavement and Auto Trader Utah Ford Focus series combine for Saturday night's race at the 1/4-mile paved Lake Havasu oval, located south of the famed London Bridge, the landmark of the Arizona town where it has resided since 1971 after being moved piece-by-piece from England.
The California South Junior Focus series, facing an ambitious slate in its sophomore season under USAC sanction, opens Saturday night at the 1/5-mile Ventura Raceway.
Ian Miille of Pleasanton, Calif. won last year's California Pavement title, winning the 2008 opener at Lake Havasu and adding a victory at Blythe, Calif. in November.
Charlie Butcher of Santa Barbara, Calif. won last year's inaugural Junior Focus crown, scoring four victories in 15 outings at Ventura.
