that's nice,it is great seeing them being restored instead of cut up.it's ironic that with the new fuel cell rules there are midgets and micros using that style of tail this year.great job on the restore.Gary

Imagine this car, the Willingham 6 out in the sun next to the Founds 69!

Don't get confused, they're not team cars, blue and white has always been popular.

No, just a goober that likes these cars. I do not work for Lanny, but he is one of the biggest reasons why I'm a lifelong fan.

We used to go over there on Saturday nights back in the 70's at Lawton. The big 2 day weekends meant we needed someplace to stay. So, we did what any family with $2 and a race car would do (in those days), we took our camper and stayed overnight in the parking lot.

I remember Labor Day weekends as the best. Modifieds and supers , and after the races, Jerry Lewis on ALL of the big 3 channels!

After the races, Lanny would have some leftover hotdogs, and seeing as how we looked poor (may have been, didn't know) he brought those out so that at least we'd have something to eat. My Dad has never forgotten, thus I cannot forget either that simple act of kindness when the rest of the world was gone from the parking lot. So, you got one hell of a show, I mean a great show, and free hotdogs IF you looked starved and stayed around long enough. No one ever knew.

That is why I can't jump in and complain about Lanny Edwards today, he has done more under the table than even he is able to remember , when it comes to helping others. He's still doing it, helping others, you just don't hear about it.

He's not happy with me right now due to a lack of communication, but then DOES HE NEED TO BE? Don't think so.

That is why, LAWTON SPEEDWAY is always going to be my home track.

From the looks of the date on this picture, we must have stayed there on Memorial Day weekends as well.

As most of you know I drove for Butch Robers for years. As a kid I remember Butch and Joe racing for many years. Butch although a lil rough aroung the edges is a good man and great for the sport. If any of yall ever get a chance you should see his vintage stuff. Some is restored and some in the process but all with heart and meaning.
