If someone did this in the 60's or 70's he'd have been a hero. Today all people can do is criticize. How the world has changed.
The motorsports industry heralds the innovators(cheaters) of years gone by, but today there is no innovation because everything is called cheating when someone designs their own advantage. This thought process really puzzles me and many others.
Are they running the new chevy engines that Tony built the shop in Indy for Shaver to build them in? If so maybe Chevy needs to make this engine available to everyone.

I think Schatz is damned good and, obviously, the team has all the advantages, so I doubt there is any cheating going on. But, thinking about this, I don't recall ever reading about a WoO teardown. Do they ever inspect engines (or other parts)? I know they test fuel and they weigh the cars. Do they do anything else?

The following is taken from the 2009 WoO rule book on page 26 under the rule 11.2:
11.2 Protests
A.) All protests must be turned into the World of Outlaw Series Sprint Car Series Director within five (5) minutes of the posting of the official finish.
B.) The protest fee must be paid at the time of the protest.
C.) Only the car owner, the driver and/or the designated team representative of the car owner may turn in an official protest.
D.) Any refusal of inspection and/or non-compliance during an official protest will result in the disqualification of the protested car and the prescribed penalties.
E.) If the car protested is found legal, the protesting fees will be released to the protested team less the protest filing fee.
F.) If the car protested is found to be illegal, the protesting fees will be returned to the team filing the protest less the filing fee.G.) Any altercation relating to the incident with Officials and/or any other racing participants by the team filing the protest will nullify the objection.
H.) PROTESTING FEES: (Figures in parentheses are filing fees): Motor tear down involving heads off and cylinders inspected; $750 ($75): This allows the inspector to inspect block only. Weight will be $750 ($75) and the protest must be made prior to the protested car crossing the scale. P&G Tests, fuel test including chemical analysis and all other technical protests; $500 ($50).
I.) The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Officials reserve the right to ask for a legality test at any time (sealed motor and/or otherwise). If through testing procedures a car is found to be illegal, responsibility for proving otherwise is solely with the team that was checked. There will be no exchange of money for tests asked for by officials when a formal protest is not turned in.
J.) The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Officials reserves the right to accept or deny any protest based on their sole discretion. ‘Grudge’ protests and/or any protest that are ‘not in the spirit of good standing’ will be denied.

Traction control...... If someone did have traction control on a sprint car, wouldnt they have to be pretty good at guessing how much traction is actually in the track. Then have to dial in a set up that would allow the car to get the forward bit that it needs. And on top of it, you still have to strap in and drive that bad ass race car. How many people could drive it as Donny said he did last night, flat out?

Not sure about last night but I know the engine they had in Tuesday was the one that he won the Nationals with last year. So no it's not the "new" Chevy engine.
