I went to the Chowchilla Speedway meeting today. I was excited to hear that Kenny Shepherd is teaming with the Wright One 360 series for 2009. Five shows are planned and the schedule will be out on Tuesday. They stated that the plan is to run winged 360, wingless 360, spec, and midgets on the same nights. They also want to have one big 410 show at the end of the year. The plan for next year is to get a WOW show on the schedule! That would be a first for Chowchilla.

They also confirmed that the track will be widened and re-surfaced before the start of the season. Banking will also be added to turn 2 and 4 exits. Transponders will be used for the sprint car shows. They stressed that the track will be run in a firm, fair, and consistent way.

I think that if they follow through with all these plans Chowchilla will be the place to race!

That is what they stated at yesterdays meeting. 5-6 Sprint and Midget only shows. Winged and Non-Winged 360's, Spec. and Midgets (Maybe).

questions come to mind as we all wanna see chowchilla make it.

1.what will the purse be for the open wheel shows?

2.what will the pit pass prices be?

3.who will be preparing the race track?

4.who will be the officials at these races and what rules will be used for the sprint cars.

Jackhammer,

The way it sounded at the meeting was that it would be a joint effort between Chowchilla and Watsonville.

so watsonville, that now has GLR as a sponsor of their 360 series, is going to be running some GLR shows at chowchilla as well? i am a race fan who has been out of the area for awhile but has been getting caught back up. some of these message boards are new to me but i am interested in finding out what is going on as i am not able to get around well these days. i was glad to see that sprint racing had returned to watsonville and that the GLR company that i have seen associated with the jason meyers 14 car on the world of outlaws has stepped up to support the sprint racing there. i hope things go well for chowchilla. now that i have internet access and a decent computer i can try to keep tabs!

I'm with you. I am a fan and now car owner/driver. I live in Chow and am trying to get the word out about the track for 09. I am not sure what it will be called (GLR/Wright One) but there will be 6 sprint shows in Chowchilla.

Shepherd says that the track and facilities will be better and ticket prices for some weekly shows might be as low as $5. I sure sprint tickets will be more. Point is, he is making it a better place to race or watch.

Hope to see you there,

Are they planning on Friday or Saturday night racing? Hopefully Saturday night so as not to interfere with Watsonville or Chico and hopefully opposite any civil War races.

If I remember the two biggest complaints were the width and visilbility of that track. Sounds like they are trying to take care of the first and hopefully some lights and water will help with the second.

Saturday night racing. When Madera has a big show Chowchilla is dark and vice versa. I don't know about Chico, but they are going to work with Watsonville on the winged deal and SMS, Bako, and Ventura on the Bandit deal.
