We will miss Jack around the racing community....RIP Jack

Jack S. Shonk, 54, of Dover died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in the Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia following a brief illness.
Jack was an employee of Greif Board in Massillon where he worked for 33 years.
Born April 28, 1954, in Dover, he was the son of the late John and Pauline (Bair) Shonk.
Jack was a 1972 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He attended the Indian Meadows Church of God in Dover and was a member of the Triway Lions Club and the Brewster Moose Lodge. Jack had a passion for sprint car racing and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the racetrack.
He is survived by three brothers, Paul (Pam) Shonk of New Philadelphia, Jerald (Theresa) Shonk of Gnadenhutten, and John P. (Julie) Shonk of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Jennifer Shonk of Pulaski, Pa., and Sarah Shonk of Akron; a grandson, Nathan Shonk of Pulaski, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Holly Shonk of Dover; and special friends Greg (Marcia) Stevens of Grandville, Mich., and Gino (Mary) Amistadi of Dover along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also appreciated his many friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Shonk.
A funeral service celebrating Jack's life will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Thomas McCracken, former missionary, officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Those unable to attend or who may wish to express a fond memory of Jack may sign the online register book by visiting the obituaries link on the funeral home's Web site.
