Contest flagman Stan M gave the two to go signal from the flagstand today, as the 10th Annual GRP Racing Triva Contest has come down to a green-white-checker finish. On the seventh day of the contest, action was unusually light at the MDTR Speedway. The partying in the campground area was anything but calm. Only one contestant turned in a score on Friday, as several teams are still working hard to get the most out of their entries.

Making his fourth straight appearance at the MDTR Speedway for contest action, multi-time Jackson Speedway track point champion in the double-barrel limited sprints Bruce Anderson made the tow up from Trimont. Bruce has always finished in the top ten with a 4th, 6th and 7th place to his credit. Bruce had his familiar #11A Maxim powered by an H&C motor with Phat Pheasant Pub sponsorship really cranked up and hauling. He knew he needed to get past the first half of his run in decent shape, as the car was setup to really come in during the latter half. Bruce did manage to slightly hook a few ruts in the early stages, upsetting his momentum just a bit. As the 11A sped on, fans could tell Bruce was really getting his entry dialed-in. Bruce blasted past the checkers with a 44 point performance, placing him in sixth position in the current standings. Fans flocked to the 11A trailer following the races to get in line for Bruce's new 3D t-shirt. What a cool concept, as long as you have the 3D glasses on that comes with it. What racers won't think of next when it comes to wearing apparel. John Lackmann was first in line.

Rumor has it that a couple of heavy hitters are waiting until the final day to submit their entries. A number of them have been spotted walking the pits, gathering information on their competitors, and looking for that edge that just may propel them to victory. With just one day left to go, things may get quite hectic on the final "lap" of the 10th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest here at the MDTR Speedway. Many thanks to the great fans who have followed the contest this week. Over on the 20/20 Racing Forum, Zimmy has been busy posting photos of interesting things that have taken place while contest promoter GRP has even managed to get into the swing of things and posted a couple of pics too. Stayed tuned to see how the final outcome plays out on Saturday January 24. The contest runs until midnight. A large crowd is expected at MDTR for the last hoorah of the season.

Kind of strange that I have to edit the message every time after the first time I post it in order to get it to show up properly.

Update shortly after midnight on Day #8:

The Hoffman family unveiled their other entry with the Rookie of the Year and Leading Lady in the 5th Annual contest, Kayla Hoffman, behind the wheel of another finely tuned and prepared ride. Kayla, who now hails from Fargo, North Dakota, has three top ten and two top five finishes in the contest to her credit. This young phenom certainly knows her way around the 3/8 mile high-banked MDTR Speedway. With dad Todd turning the wrenches, Kayla immediately set out to overtake Kristi. Learning from a few mistakes made earlier this week, Kayla quickly showed the fans that her Hoffman sprinter would be a threat to take the lead. Lap after lap she was fast and gained steadily on the leaders. As luck would have it, Kayla scraped the wall ever so slightly with nine laps to go. She pulled alongside the pack of four leaders with Stan M twirling the checkers high in the air, but she just could not get that last little bit of momentum to pull off the pass for the lead. Kayla settled in with another 47 point score and joined a strong group of contestants up front on the leaderboard. The earliest entry tiebreaker has certainly been put to good use, as the Wisconsin and Minnesota fans continue to keep their fingers crossed.

Will we see a pass for the lead later on today in either or both divisions? Stay tuned for more drama and action on the final day with contestants and fans vying for bragging rights.
