Coming Soon...10th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest (Hosted by Minnesota Dirt Track Racing website)

The track crew at the mythical MDTR Speedway is busy making preparations for the 10th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest. The annual contest format will change from past years stated contest promoter GRP. There will be just TWO divisions in action this year. Open Wheel (sprints, midgets and champ dirt cars) and Stock Cars (late models, supers, streets, and of course modifieds) will comprise the field at the mythical high-banked MDTR Speedway in 2009. The Stock Car division will likely be slanted a little bit more towards the mods and late models while the Open Wheel division will definitely have more sprint car stuff. The winner of each division will receive the customary $100, but it does not end there. This year there will be a Grand Champion with the scores of both divisions combined. That will pay $200. We shall see who has the best over all knowledge amongst the dirt track racing fans across a wide spectrum of the sport. It won't take long to realize that with the sprint cars ruling the Open Wheel division, the over all scored is weighted a bit in their favor. That is by design, as they were the very first (and only) division in the 1st Annual contest. Not to worry though, as many of the perennial front-runners in the sprint car class have limited knowledge when it comes to stock cars. If he enters, Ron Haugstad from Brandon, SD would be a serious contender, as he has done pretty well in the late model and modified divisions in past years. His sprint car knowledge runs deep! It will be interesting for sure! Don't count out many other top-runners in the stock car ranks either, as they may turn in strong runs in the Open Wheel ranks. Plenty of info will be available to find right on the internet while some will of course be impossible to find via internet searchs with contestants relying on either personal knowledge or programs, yearbooks, papers and so on to assist them. The tie-breaker rule remains as the earliest entry received via email will get the higher spot in the standings!

In a departure from recent years, the contest will run for a little over ONE WEEK this year. The 10th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest will kick off either this coming Friday night January 16 or some time on Saturday January 17, depending on when Stan M gets it uploaded to his Minnesota Dirt Track Racing website. I'm thinking it might be Friday night, but I cannot say for sure. That will be up to Stan M. The contest will for sure end at midnight on Saturday January 24, so fans will have a little over one week to "get er done" this year. It will make for a busy one week period with two divisions on the race program at MDTR. Stan M will make the official announcement (posts on 20/20 and MDTR forums) when he gets the contest loaded and ready for viewing.

Head flagman, Stan M, also returns to the flagstand for his 10th contest. Stan will once again be keeping a close eye on the competition on the track, as well as the activity near the beer stand where Vinster's Maximum Babes (VMAX) all-girl pit crew will be once again signing autographs during intermission. The campground area will get wild from time to time, especially if that Bloomer0 fan from over by Shawano heads east again and mixes it up with the Superior fans. Zimmy has been known to capture some interesting pics with his Monster Zoom during past contest action. The host of characters who enter the contest in hopes of bringing home the top prize in each division or becoming the Grand Champion usually provide plenty of photo ops and plenty to write about. The fun begins when Stan M throws the green flag on the contest and sets up links to it from his MDTR Message Board and the 20/20 Racing Page forum. As always, the contest is free to enter.
