Larry and Lori Woodward are proud to announce that they have hired Johnny "Hollywood" Herrera as their driver for the 2009 Season. The Team will contend for the 2009 Knoxville Track Championship and attend several IRA events as well as competing in a number of the most prestigious 410 races in the United States of America. A new twist in this partnership will see Larry, Lori, and Johnny combine The Woodward's old fondness for non-winged racing with Herrera's new found love of non-winged racing. When the opportunity arises the Larry Woodward Team will also compete to win non-winged races as well. With this wonderful news also comes the exciting news that Herrera will be reunited with Crew Chief Troy Renfro. Many will remember that this duo combined to win the 1996 King's Royal in dramatic fashion. Troy and Johnny, longtime friends, have had success in the past and look forward to even bigger and better results together in 2009. Together this team brings so much success and experience in sprint car racing that it's a given that they will find Winner's Circle very quickly. Johnny Herrera stated "I am honored that Larry and Lori have given me this opportunity, and I look forward to our first race together, and to work with Troy again is an added bonus. Anytime in racing something big has happened for me, Troy has been there and here he is again. The Woodward's will get 110% from me as a driver in 2009…All I want to do is race and win on any track, with any organization, winged or non winged…I just want to win races." Sweet!!!!!

I think I read somewhere that Herrera won 16 of 19 races he entered this year. That's 84%!

He said the deal came together really quick. He is really good at Knoxville. I look for them to be a title contender. Hopefully we will see some ARP on the cars. He runs them on his dad's cars so we will see.
