Well everyone has been busy! I mean busy! We now have set another huge step towards making this movement down here a thing to be for the coming years. The Favorite Son of Wichita Falls gave us his blessing to have a vintage show in his honor. The unspoken rules are -THIS IS TEXAS, GIVE IT A TEXAS WELCOME.

In the coming days and weeks there will be updates as to format, activities etc. Hope you like BBQ, good people, vintage race cars, AND how to work that camera because you won't want to miss this!
Here's their website, Thank you all for your patience during the last few months.

To give you an idea of what Lloyd has done, and this is just slightly scratching the surface, I'll link the pictures from another thread here.

Just putting pictures up of the track. This place looks wide in person in relation to it's overall length. It makes me want to drive just looking at it! And I will. Don't expect too much to be impressed from my drivin' though.
Here's a clip(if you have video)- Of a famous 1/5 mile track known as Ventura Raceway. If SCRA sprinters can tame a 1/5 mile, we can handle it.

Just about every track gets some comment about turn 4. How many tracks have you heard about over the years that may have had a turn 4 that was a bit tight? THIS TURN 4 has seen 3 full-size racetrucks side by side without an incident. If turn 4 here is too tight for you, slow it down.

This town dotes over Lloyd because he has always been willing to help and give inspiration to "put the drive" back into what it's all about. This man has gone from racing through creekbeds (one time with a goat under his arm with Hambone Harrell) to being a noted contender at the 24 hours of Lemans. Lady Luck at Indianapolis still thinks she should have given him a better chance at winning there since he has done so much for them.
In TRUE TEXAS FASHION, he acts like it never happened.
The above overpass bears his name as thanks from this town. I don't think they are through yet.

This day I guess changed the course of my intentions as to what I was going to do with my car. I was there to show off an old truck and park my car in front of it with a 'race car/push truck' theme. I showed up in the middle of the night , car in tow. I found the location after a while and was blown away by the sight of these roadsters in a lit showroom at 3am! When I came back and unloaded, the show promoter had other ideas. A lot of people got to talking that day, now here we are.

Harold Lindsey of Texas has been busy. Fresh painted car and fresh made stickers of note. Anybody that wants one of these needs to let him or me know. They are sold at cost @$4.50 roughly.

Let me expound on this.
The race cars here are what I consider old race cars. The minute a parameter is set, some one somewhere will push out into a gray area. I hate to even talk about some kind of organization(turns my stomach to even think about it).
Yet, in order for this movement to survive, we need some kind of guidelines to go by. No one agrees on everything that everybody else is okay with. Somewhere this always a small glitch it seems.
At best, I am a "fringe purist", I use some later model pieces on my cars(under the skin). Yet still only wish to represent the older cars from the 70's back. I have a 1987 Nance roller that could be ready to go in one day with 2-3 people working on it. That car is too new for what I wish to do here.
I am not a boss or anything like that. I simply am trying to connect this regions vintage/classic/old/obsolete race cars that we like on THESE PAGES at RFTP. As a carowner and/or caretaker of 3 cars, I WILL ONLY SUPPORT THE GROUP THAT IS FOUND HERE. Should this group find greater support elsewhere, then I will have to join this group in giving that support back----so long as it is done in an honorable fashion.
This is a legitimate shot to open up the corridor through here for our kind of cars.
Strength in numbers will make the statement.

Okay, just got off the phone last night with a guy that is coming down to shoot video of the show. I've seen his work and it's pretty good. He's somewhat aquainted with the supermods as his Uncle is Buddy Jackson, ran out of Marlow OK. That way, what happens there, is not only on photo, but motion too. Bring your car on in, he wants to get it in digital.
Here's a copy of his work, I'm sure he is able to use music we're more used to.

They say the difference between ordeal and adventure is all in the attitude. I got the car running and driving by 2:30 pm! I couldn't stop since I knew it would. Fired it up, took it around the block, gave the neighbors a thrill, and loaded her up. Then on the way down there 'Ol Trusty, the ugly white van I use, put me on the side of the road 2-3 times, and nearly shucked the serpentine belt in the process! All this while remembering how bad this car pushed 22 years ago, and worrying about the turnout and so on.
But then when I went into the first turn at what seemed like fast enough for me, I knew it was an adventure.
We'll have those pics of Saturday night as they come in. Here's a few of mine from Sunday

Who's at the wheel, Randy or Kyle?? Is doesn't get any better than this!! If this doesn't bring them out of the woodwork, they are beyond hope. Wished I could have been there.

Now let me introduce you guys to the kind of driver we used to know.
He's over 6ft, strong as an ox, builds his own racecars, helps his Dad build his own racecars, drives, tows, you name it. He's raced since he was 12 years old, won 2 championships, and been just about everywhere there is dirt in Ok-Tex. I have watched him be a driving force behind his Dad through this whole thing . He didn't slump when they ran the cars either.
He is Lance Lindsey, I don't have a pic of him just yet, but here is the car he drove this Saturday night.
