Bobby Gerould's HammerDownUSA website has been conducting a driver popularity contest for months and will be concluded in just a few days on January 11th. Most of the drivers are from California, but there are a few national drivers also. When you consider that Northern California's most successful driver and the King of the Outlaws aren't even in the top four, you quickly realise that this is as it states, a popularity contest. There's nothing wrong with being popular, and it does show you who the fans are coming to watch and cheering for. Three out of the top four are young up and comers who have won races in exciting fashions and are keeping the future of our sport alive and well.
So don't forget to vote and while you are there, take a look around. Bobby's site is informative, but he also does a great job at making it fun for the fans who want to remember some of the good old days.

This poll is not based on popularity, it's a poll on how many times you can vote for the same person over and over and over.
Would you say Shane Golobic is more popular then the King-Steve Kinser? The wild child-Jac Haudenchild? TK? BK?

OK so it's sprint cars version of "American Idol". The younger generation that has time on their hands and technology all around, calls a bunch of friends and they all vote.( I don't think you can just sit on one computer and vote a bunch of times? ). BUT hopefully those same kids will come and pay for a seat on Saturday night and buy food and buy T-Shirts and cheer for their friends. So the bottom line is that it is a popularity contest and if you are popular enough to have people spend countless hours voting for you, then OH WELL. Let 'em have fun.......Racing is suppose to be fun.
.....and If Kinser, Haud, TK or BK get upset, they can just take a glance at their trophy cases and smile from ear to ear.
