I responded to the post about the UMSS and got to thinking about the number of Sprint Car races around the Metro. We haven't seen official schedules yet so I'm just cobbling this together based on traditional dates and information released so far.
UMSS 360's 4 races at Cedar Lake 4
UMSS 360's 10 races at Kopellah 10
Elko covered with dirt (we'll guess 2) 2 (all indications are that it's a go)
Cedar Lake IRA (Masters & Richert Memorial 3
Cedar Lake World of Outlaws 1
Arlington IRA 1
Red Cedar IRA 1
Princeton National WoO 1
That makes a possible 23 races within an hour and a half for me (may vary depending on what part of the Metro you live in)
Other races within 200 miles of where I live in Forest Lake
Jackson Friday all Sprint shows 2
Rice Lake IRA 1 (rumors about Rice Lake being sold?)
Superior Northern Nationals IRA 1 (no word on the return of the spring race)
North Central Kouba Memorial & Axe 3
North Central WoO (will we see an encore?) 1 (not sure if NCS will continue this event)
Deer Creek WoO Sprints (this one is official) 1
I'm not counting Arlington's weekly racing or anything further than 200 miles from the Cities. I probably missed some but I think you'll agree that anybody who goes to all of the ones I listed is going to have a pretty busy summer. I probably won't make it to as many of the ones that are a little further away this year so I like the number of nearby races.

We got something new starting up? That's good. The more sprint car shows the better.

There might be another one or two sprint car shows within an hour or so of the Twin City area Stan. I know the UMSS is working on a few more dates, and hopefully with the help of Pat Willis they might be able to secure a few more. Nothing definite whatsoever, so we shall have to wait and see. The more the merrier.

Elko management has stated that they plan on converting to dirt sometime in July or August. My feeling on that one is we'll have to wait and see what they say when their schedule is released because it's not a done deal until we see dates, sanctions, classes, etc.
Sprintfan#55L, you'll have to ask Bob Allen or Steve Sinclair that question. I don't have an answer but the Arlington race last year was a good one so I hope they are able to continue that show.
I knew Pat was talking to the promoters GRP but so far only 14 have been announced so those are the ones I listed.

I'm sure Arlington will have the IRA show, it always brings a good crowd and quite a few cars.

Brainerd was already going to be a question mark but it still might be a possibility. They have the WoO Late Models on their schedule. There are some TBA dates in October a little later than last year's Princeton and Brainerd shows so maybe they're still in negotiations. I'd sure hate to see the Princeton National go away but if it does we enjoyed it while it lasted.
