BOWMAN WINS AT IRWINDALE & CLAIMS NATIONAL FOCUS CROWN

DECEMBER 1, 2008 --- Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. captured the 2008 USAC National Ford Focus Championship Thursday night at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Calif., leading the final 30 laps in his Specialty Racing/Haas CNC Racing Beast.

He passed Charles Maier on lap 11 and led the rest of the way and his name will be engraved on the Henry Ford Sweepstakes Trophy permanent trophy, emblematic of the National Champion.

Ian Miille, by virtue of finishing third behind Bowman and Canadian Steven Mathews, wrapped up the 2008 California Pavement Ford Focus title, edging Bowman by 28 points.

Bowman's victory was his 11th of the season, more than any other driver in USAC racing in 2008. Garrett Petersen finished fourth and Michael J. Lewis rounded out the "top-five."
