by a margin of .935 to .922.

but check this out. the computers - as predicted - swung big in OU's favor - not just off last weeks games - but because Mizzou lost to Kansas.

here is what i find interesting....
Oklahoma was a point ahead of Texas in the USA Today coaches’ poll and six points behind the Longhorns in the Harris Interactive. The computer ratings preferred the Sooners and that made the difference.

this is from an AP article. this means that a pretty substantial group of Harris Poll voters were actually swayed by the stunts of last night. the plane, mack brown, the punks musberger and herbstreit constantly downing ou for not blowing out osu.....this means they actually thought barely covering the spread against the #84 team in the nation at home - was better than going on the road to the #12 team in the nation and putting up 61 and winning. this means that quite a few that had OU up last week - actually switched it this week.......this makes no sense. people should be booted from the deal.

The Harris poll is the runt of the BCS. the computers are good - are needed. especially in the ways they use them. the coaches - whereas - questionable much of the time - actually had it right this week i think. but when you look at who is actually among the Harris Interactive - its a giant WTF?!?!? who??? its a bunch of no namers not much more qualified to do what they do than most of us are....

well no matter. OU is in - Texas is out (of the big 12 title anyways). i would have felt bad for texas - a very raw deal. but after they were allowed to campaign last night - with even what appeared to be cheerleaders calling that game last night - screw em. should have played a better non conference schedule. OU did - they are in. hook THAT horns!!!

Another thing that is stupid. Texas beat a low life team like A&M and OU beats a top rated team and Texas moves ahead of them in the coaches poll. I think the voters are all TEXANS. The refs in the OU/OSU game were bought and paid for by T.Boone Pickens

I did like the fact ole T-Boone wasn't interviewed last night like he always seem to be in the past on tv. Guess the lower gas prices for us workin folk don't make those billionare oilmen easy money as during the summer.

huh good point david.

thats kind of funny, when we are in pain at the pump - OSU benefits. never saw it that way till now.

gas like it is now - T Boone starts thinkin twice bout deleivering on 100% of it - bet he is waiting and hoping that next summer gets like this one was - so OSU football can benefit....

ha - you pokes keep chasing that elusive 10 win season. i know ya'll best get those 10 wins BEFORE the last game of each season! wink

A man like T Boone Pickens will ALWAYS have an option to make money somewhere. It just happens that OIL is the best game he know's. When to play and when to fold is key to survival and prosperity.

Question: Was there a change in refferees (the only official on the field with a white hat) in the game about 2/3 the way through? It seemed to me and others that the older gentleman acting as referee from the start was not "on his game". There were a couple calls that were not handled efficiantly; ie some confusion and delay (I am not saying they got the calls wrong). Then, it seemed to me that there was a much younger man delivering the calls to the television audiance. This is NOT an attack on the officials OR the older referee that started the game. I just notice these things. If I am mistaken, with all due respect, I will stand corrected. Paul Martens

Im a pokes fan and more than that an avid college football fan!!!!

I think the BCS needs some serious fixing. I predicted an OU Florida National Championship game but I truly feel Texas has been removed from the big 12 championship unjustly. Im not being biased at all, hell, I cant stand the longhorns

but if you have 2 teams with the same record and there was a head to head match up(especially on a neutral field) then I believe that common sense tells you to take the winner of that game.

Im sure the sooner fans are going to jump on this but truly if they use common sense the they too realize that the big12 championship game is a gift given to them!!!

The sooners were man handled by texas this year and lost by 10 and the longhorns lose on a last second desperation toss....

Im happy for OU, they got thier gift, sad for Texas they got robbed, and pissed off because we need a playoff!!!

Overall, the BIG 12 was the best conference in football this year...WOW, 4 teams (from the south) in the top 14. Congrats to all of them!!!!

Let me start this post by saying that Texas does have a legitimate gripe as would OU had they not been chosen.

There is one thing that everybody keeps forgetting. It was a 3-way tie. Everybody rules out Texas Tech because they got drilled by OU and therefore have no claim.

Had OU barely beaten Texas Tech at home, then the Texas win over OU would have no more validity than Tech's win over Texas or OU's win over Tech. All 3 teams would have a legitimate argument for why they should be in the Big 12 Championship.

OU's blowout of Tech actually made Texas' win over OU more meaningful than it should be in a 3-way tie.

The computers actually took emotion out of the equation and rewarded OU for the blowout win over Tech and the best win in the conference on the road this season in the OU win over OSU.

Had OU lost to OSU, would Texas support Tech going to the title game on the strength of their win over Texas, or would Texas fans be griping that they are rated higher and Tech barely beat Baylor Saturday. They may have lost head to head, but Texas would have still been the only one rated high enough to have a chance at the national championship game.

OSU is a really good team and I wonder if Texas could have gone to Stillwater Sat. night and won. They barely beat them in Austin.

damn i think i made some good points.......

but Dirt Dale you just hit a bullseye - those last 2 paragraphs are very very true.

the BCS isnt the worst system in the world. but its hampered by the fact that not all conferences play a conference championship game - as well as the attempts to keep the money up front by granting automatic bid to conference winners that really have no place in a BCS game (like the Big East and ACC winners this year). if there was just an 8 team playoff - yes teams would still get screwed. but they would be 2 loss teams - this makes a difference - because a 2 loss team doesnt have the gripe like texas does this year ------ a 2 loss team had TWO chances to get it done and didnt - so in the end they have much less of an argument...another thing that hurts is certain bowl games wanting certain conferences in their bowls - and making selections based on how much dough that team can bring with them. and yet another thing i think is major - The Rose Bowl. it should just be a BCS game like any other - because frankly - its actually usually a shitty game. its not right because if a pac 10 or big 10 team go to the title game - then some bum ass 2nd place team goes to the rose bowl - many times its a struggle just to get that team ranked before the rose bowl lol. the last thing i mention - NOTRE DAME. it is only by sheer greed that these dirty bastards are not in the Big 10. the big 10 has 11 teams in it anyways. why not make it 12 - still call it the Big 10 (fine by me) - and then they could have a conference championship game?????????

the answer - money. the big 10 doesnt want it - not sure why - but sure its out of greed in some way. notre dame doesnt want it - because then they would have to share their bowl earnings and TV contracts with a conference - as is - those dirty bastards get to just keep it all. this aint right....and college football will embarASS themselves yet again if they put that sorry ass notre dame team in the Gator Bowl - again....

ok thats my rant. but i still agree 100% with dirt dale...

Notre Dame don't deserve a bowl game. Period!!! End of discussion. Wies is an ambarressment to that program. Your right Cody. Greed is the best term for this if it happens. Greed is what makes the good ole USA tick now-a-days. If they do get a bowl, I hope thye get they're butts handed to em.

As for the original topic, it's to bad for Tech and Texas. They both deserve a shot at a title. Not just a bowl game. Some sort of playoff system needs to put into place. At least an 8 team playoff. I'd rather see em implement a 12 to 16 team playoff. A 3-4 week off period isn't good for the sport anyway. I think it'd be more exciting for the season to close that way to. That would also make the two undefeated non-bcs teams(this season)stake a ligitimate claim for a piece of the pie.

I hope I didn't scramble the words.

Personally, I feel that any team that has a loss (be it Texas, Texas Tech or OU) does not have a good gripe about any of this. If you can't fulfill your end of the bargain by winning every game, than your fate is in somebody else's hands, and you have no gripe if it goes against you. I am very happy this one went in OU's favor, but had it not, I don't think OU would have had a valid gripe either. Obviously, strength of schedule has to figure in there somewhere, or else every team in the country would schedule pansys, but you still have to handle your end of the bargain.
