“KINDOLL CLASSIC” AT PERRIS THIS SATURDAY;
SWINDELL “SWEEPS” WESTERN WORLD AT MANZANITA;
COONS EMERGES AS NATIONAL SPRINT CAR CHAMPION

NOVEMBER 10, 2008 --- Mike Spencer leads the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars to their penultimate race this Saturday at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. It’s the “Kindoll Classic” and Spencer has a 78-point lead over Blake Miller in the latest series standings. The series concludes November 29 at The PAS.

Kevin Swindell of Germantown, Tenn. and Jerry Coons Jr. of Tucson, Ariz. shared the spotlight in last weekend’s 41st NAPA Auto Parts/Budweiser/Parker Store “Western World Championships” at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz. Swindell “swept” both Friday’s 25-lap preliminary feature and Saturday’s 40-lap finale, while Coons locked up his first USAC National Sprint Car Championship.

Coons finished fifth on Friday and second on Saturday to edge defending series champion Levi Jones by 86 points for the crown. Jones finished third both nights.

Swindell piloted the Tom Rolfe Trucking/Honey Run Quilters Maxim/Ott to victory lane both nights. He passed Jesse Hockett on the 16th lap Friday and led the final 10 laps to beat Hockett, Jones, Shane Cottle and Coons. Saturday he fought off challenges from several contenders in a bitter duel for the crown, leading the final four laps after Hockett’s engine let go on the backstretch. Pole starter Tracy Hines led the first 28 laps but slipped to seventh at the checkered flag.

Coons finished second Saturday ahead of Jones, Dave Darland and Jeremy Sherman. Brad Sweet paced qualifying in the field of 64 drivers.
