This week, Thur through Sat, Nov 13th-15th:

First Annual Winter Nationals at Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, Louisiana is Saturday. One day show on Saturday that pays $1000 to win in Modifieds and $800 to win in Southern Sport Mods/Limited Modifieds. Plus Late Models that pay $2500 to win if they get 20 or more cars ($1200 if not). Jody Davidson has been on a roll in the Mods the last couple of weeks there beating fields of 20 or more cars.

Then way down south for the road warrior Limited Modifieds, it's the Battle on the Border! Literally... For those who enjoyed visiting both sides of the border while down at Rio Grande Speedway in McAllen, this one may be right up your alley! It pays $3000 to win and $300 to start in the finals on Saturday and the entry fee is now $125. Modifieds will also race complete shows each night for a $50 entry fee but they are running for support class money in this one.

Thur - Sat, Nov 20th -22nd.

For the road warrior Modifieds, a Boothill-like, paper-clip style dirt track called Texana Raceway Park in Edna, Texas -- about 100 miles southwest of Houston -- has the USMTS Southern Series for 3 nights -- $1000, $2000 & $3000 to win! Plus the battle for the Southern Series points title and the Dustin Duncan-JustSayYes Rookie-of-the-Year award with drivers like John-O Whittington, Derrick Ramirez, Shane Hebert and Morgan Bagley in contention for the first time award.

But that's not all, for the road warrior Limited Modifieds (Sport Mods), Texana is paying $800 to win on Thursday & $1000 to win each night on Friday and Saturday with $40 to start each night and there is NO entry fees for Limiteds any night! Hard to beat that!

Closer to home though, Boothill Speedway in Greenwood will race a one-day show - "Ho-Ho-Ho at The Hill" (in honor of the fat man in the red suit I'm sure!...) on Saturday, November 22nd for Modifieds, Limited Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Beginner-Cruisers and Super Stocks (Southern Hot Stocks). Mods will pay $700 to win and Limited Mods, $600 to win and both pay $50 to start. See http://forums.delphiforums.com/Boothill3/start for more info...

Saturday, November 29th:

Two days after Thanksgiving on Saturday, Doug Ingalls, Jr. and David Hill have teamed up to bring us another East Texas Turkey Nationals event! This year it pays $1000 to win and $100 to start in the Modifieds and has NO entry fees in any of the classes. Just a $30 pit pass. Limiteds and Factory Stocks will both pay $500 to win and $50 to start.

Thursday through Saturday, December 4th through 6th:

What a way to bring down the curtain on the 2008 season! At beautiful Houston Raceway Park!

If you have't been there, GO! You'll love it! The USMTS Modifieds will conclude the Southern Series for 2008 with 2nd Annual Texas Winter Nationals! Last year, some 80 different Modifieds pulled into the all-paved pit area along with some 65 different Limited Modifieds. Just 2 classes race but they all run complete, independent shows each night with a payout each night and this year, the purse is bigger for the Modifieds! $2000 to win on Thursday, $3000 on Friday and $4000 on Saturday for a possible $9000 to win weekend! Add to that the crowning of a points champion and the excitement of the first ever Dustin Duncan-JustSayYes RotY award and HRP is a show you can't miss!

2nd time around will be better too!

Last years racing on Saturday night was fantastic! 3-wide action from hot laps to feature's end! The Limiteds had great A-mains on both Friday and Saturday but we did have a learning curve with the track on Thursday & Friday. Having never run in December before and with a cold wet rain that hit early in the week, HRP's track crew was challenged for sure but they got it right by Saturday and week-in and week-out, they do a great job all season long. With the experience of the first Texas Winter Nationals now under their belt I'm expecting some awesome racing in both classes all weekend long this year!

Local stars like Chris Henigan have indicated they will end their year at HRP and take on the likes of Jason Hughes, Howard Willis and Steve Holzkamper as well as some of the northern teams that are sure to be down for this one! Last year, Minnesota's Alan Mondus took one of the Texas Winter Nationals wins.

So get up for the stretch run of 2008! Just 4 weeks to go! Good news is, GAS CONTINUES TO DROP! 1.99 per gallon of regular at a lot of Ark-La-Tex area pumps and I've seen diesel now as low as $2.85 -- almost 2 dollars lower than it was this summer!

Cya at least one more time in 2008!
