How about the TV channel? I could have sworn that Dave Argabright's column in SC&M said that SPEED was the channel of choice. Although the Versus channel makes sense seeing how they already carry Lucas Oil programs. Either way its a win win situation for Sprint Car fans. Now let's hope Speed picks up the outlaws for next year.
P.S. Do you think the WOO will take legal action over this ad?

I would say this is BLATANT false advertising - or a marketing crew with no clue what the hell is going on. I saw this ad in Flat Out, too. SOMEONE had to see this ad before it went to print - including those who printed it. So --- what's the story here? On top of that - isn't this a huge slap in the face to all their 360 stars????????

I have to agree with you Swamp, BLATANTLY on purpose. If you don't have the big names, then you just APPEAR to have them. They have to get more fans to drink the koolaid or this improved series goes no where. As you once said Swamp, 360's are not the answer and never will be! I think it was a marketing ploy to get a little buzz about them.

Just to follow up - I have nothing against 360's and I believe there are a lot of great drivers amongst them - but my point was they are not the answer to save costs. If 360's became the only top division and 410's went away - I promise you the costs will go right through the roof and we're back to square one. The only savings right now is on motors and freshening them - but if you have to keep up with the next guy with twice your budget - well...do the math.

There is no savings by going to 360, The Motors are still 35k for a good one.

There's a track in South Dakota that has ASCS National once a year and ASCS Northern Plains twice a year. They always advertise them as ASCS Outlaw Sprints. Then there's the Winged Outlaw Warriors in Missouri, which is of course a 360 club. Or the old American Outlaw Action Series 360 group in the South.

Paying $6000-to-win and $500-to-start, and with drivers like Lasoski possibly already heading in that direction... I'd say the ad might be somewhat prophetic considering the current economic downturn.

That picture was taken during the 4-abreast at the 2006 or 2007 Knoxville Nationals, whichever one was unsanctioned. Lucas Oil sponsored that particular Nationals and had rights to that photo. As for why they used it, no one knows. But that picture was taken during an event that they were sponsoring.

The answer to save cost is to ditch the wings all together. The only reason everything cost so damn much is that in order to drag that aluminum POS around a race track does nothing to help your engine, therefore it comes down to who wants/can spend enough money to have the latest, lightest, and who can rebiuld them every 5 races. This has never made sense to me. Unfortunately I think it is too late, but nothing will happen until downforce 410' racing is gone.
Why don't the WoO mandate wings for their late model division. then they can slowly become extinct as well.
Thanks god we Late Model fans are not so worried that a car has to be going a certain spreed to have a good race.

Once they raised the height requirements for 410s, many vertically challenged drivers were left with precious few choices...

Could very well be a shot from Nationals 2007.
2006-The front row was Schatz, Saldana, Meyers and Jason Johnson (LA). The Kahne 9 was accented red with some country music chicks vinyl-ed in the top wing dish as well.
2007-Northland Motor Oil from the home state of Iowa, I assume had "dibs" on bragging rights for the petroleum promotion during the week. Page 125 of the Natty program does show Brady Short in a Midget (no pun intended) on the page ad.
I edited out the commercials for my DVD, so maybe someone else can check to see, maybe Lucas was a broadcast sponsor during the commercials, but I would still call shenanigans on Lucas for that specific ad.

I've seen races with wings and I have seen races without wings. The only problem I have is on half miles the speed and saftey is a major issue.Jackson Speedway in Minnesota had a few over the past couple of years and yes they are with drivers that don't normally take the wings off and if you ask Rob Caho it didn't turn out so well, one of the worst wrecks I've ever seen and I have seen many.Clint Garner had a wild ride one other night.
Long Live the Wings.

Ha ... if you look real close at the NSSN back page picture, you can see that the Quaker State logo's have been "photoshopped" off the hood and top wing of Steve's car. Somebody knew exactly what they were doing with this picture.
