JUNIOR FOCUS CHAMPION CROWNED AT VENTURA SATURDAY

NOVEMBER 3, 2008 --- Charlie Butcher of Santa Barbara, Calif. will try to lock up the 2008 USAC Junior Ford Focus Championship this Saturday night when the series concludes at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.

Butcher leads Tyler Edwards by 120 points with 260 available at Ventura.

Butcher owns four feature victories at the 1/5-mile dirt oval and has added three second and two thirds, while Edwards also has won four times and added a second and two thirds. The two have finished 12 twice, Edwards winning both times.

Other Junior Focus feature winners this year have been Lance Butler and Jake Swanson (two each) plus Joe Leiper and Harris Brooks.

Charlie & Tyler have been great competition all year. Jake has done a hell of a job chasing down those two and making it into the top three after missing a race earlier this season. With only one race left Charlie has a 120 point gap on Tylar and Jake is 110 points out of 2nd. Should be a good battle for podium positions this weekend with 260 up for grabs.

Currently Charlie has the highest average points per race with 221.4, Jake follows in second with 213.0 and Tyler in third with 212.8.
