Just read on Hoseheads that Mike Arthur, who in my opinion is the best open wheel photographer of all time, is retiring today. That is, after 37 years, today is his last day delivering mail for US Postal. Congratulations Mike. Also, thank you for all you have done for open wheel racing for nearly 40 years. And, a personal thank you for all the help you gave me 30 years ago (yikes, has it been that long?). You are the best. Mike is pretty quiet and does not toot his own horn, but this sport could never repay him for everything he has done for the drivers, teams, sponsors, tracks, sanctioning bodies and fans. Sometimes I feel ashamed that he has not been recognized more for his contributions to the sport.
I have been pestering him for years do a book with his photography. His work stands out and he would have to do volumes to get all of the great stuff in. Now that he has the extra time, I will pester him some more.
Congratulations again Mike on your retirement. Thank you for your great photography work & contributions to the sport and for being a great friend,

Scott, I know this post is about Mike Arthur and I'm sorry to change the subject but I just wanted to compliment you on your announcing last night. We were so busy in the pits I could not watch one race unless our cars were in them, however we were right by a pit speaker and I felt like I had watched each race after listening to your play by play. You were on your game last night. Great job...................Jim Cardey
