I am in shock right now, and my wife has a tear in her eye...

We donated a very pedestrian $20, much less than I am sure a lot of hoseheads/fans out there donated, and when I got home tonight I had a HAND WRITTEN, thank you note from Jeff's mom, Helen...

WOW! A hand written to me and my wife... talk about class... that is true class, I can't imagine how many thank you notes his family wrote if they wrote one to my family... it is truly amazing... I will hold onto the thank you card for the rest of my life... truly amazing...

So, to the Shepard family, I saw good luck, god bless, and thank you for the "thank you" card... I am absolutely speechless and in shock... Thank you Helen...

Sincerely,

Jason & Heather Kester, Columbus, OH

I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

Racers, families, and fans are by far the classiest people I have ever met! I am proud to be a part of the racing community.

DARF (Dayton Auto Race Fans) held their annual injured driver fund benefit auction last night. There were two gentlemen there who bought a lot of items for a good deal of money. Then toward the end of the auction, gave most of it back to be re-auctioned. Again, VERY classy!

Helen, Is quite a lady. Not many outside (or inside for that matter) the racing community have any idea how many racing (and non racing) fans she has helped over the years while they were in fights for their own lifes. She is the most caring and thoughful person I have ever known who helped me get through some very tough times with her tenderness and true concern as I was recovering form more than a few serious operations.

How many people do you know that would be holding your hand as you came to after major surgery (more than once) giving words of support no matter how bad things looked, You can't even put that kind of thing into words. When I think of what she did for me over the years it brings tears to my eyes.

Not many Helen Shepards left n this world... Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and Jeff and feel privileged that she is one of my friends and concider her a real live living angel on earth.
