whatever a perfect race is at State Fair Speedway - tonight was close to it.
just an awesom race. track was freakin great. conventional wisdom suggested with all the wind and it being the 2nd side of a 2 day show it woulda been slick/dry ------ NOPE! tacky and freakin fast. the B Mains were good - track was just a tick on the tacky side - but it really started gettin good and fast in the super sprint b mains. for a comparison - ya'll know how sfs tracks are when ascs is here? ya know where it looks after the show like they should turn around and run it all over again so it will be really good - well tonight - it was like that from the outset. just a great track. it was really perfect in the a mains. had moisture low - a cushion high - and a dry streak right under the cushion - and it wasnt really dry either. i'm glad i stayed at sfs tonight - actually the whole weekend - as the ticket price was well worth it. it was one of those nights where you really didnt want it to end - thats about the perfect way to explain it. i look forward to the last show in 2 weeks..........
i really gotta say a helluva job lanny on that track! amazingly good track conditions under any circumstances - let alone through this wind. the racing was fast and good all night long. a true recap is difficult. one of them things you just had to be there to see it kind of - it was that damn good. if i had to grade it - A+. if i had to score it out of 100. probably a 98. it was just like most races the last few months at SFS - really really good - and MORE. track was great, racing was great, car count was great ------ couldnt ask for more tonight. the night was made even better by the great company of the folks in the fantasy section! - all 6 of us lol.
i'll either let someone else recap it - or recap it later...........either way i need to eat and then get started scoring the fantasy league...

The 14 car was found to be LEGAL!!!!! Watched the teardown myself. Watched Lanny tell Mark Brill what he thought about him and his protesting. And watched and laughed as Mark Brill walked off the stage with his tail tucked between his legs when they finished the inspection and handed Steve the protest money. I love it when some racers make themselves look like fools because the can't handle beeing outrun LEGALLY.
I used to not like Lanny that much. But after last night, I am starting to like the little guy. Sorry Mark, but the 14 ain't cheatin', they just outhandled you!!!

That's funny. We sat around the coffee shop saturday morning talking about that. We knew he was legal and Brill was just gonna be giving him the money. I'm not sure but I think that engine is pretty old to. ??? LMAO

damn skippy.
how bout you just tell me/us why you thought it wasnt a good track?
from the cheap seats - i thought the racing was very good. fast, passing, i just thought it was really good. but i dont see from the stands what you do in the car - so i'd be happy to hear a different perspective .......

Friday night was awesome IMO. It was really fun racing with Larry and Sheldon wheel to wheel for most of the last part of the race. Saturday night was just hammer down on the bottom. It didn't take any finesse or anything.

thanks cheese for explaining that. i agree friday was damn good too. as for saturday - i thought they were competing very well. i mean - some were up on the top cushion - and others down on the bottom. but i cant see it the way you guys can - i just thought both nights had some really good racing. and am happy with the fact my 40$ admission total this weekend was well worth it.
thats really what matters to me most. like others i thought we was gettin overcharged and they would have less than we did the last race on champ sunday yet charge double - as it turns out - both nights of winter nationals were more worth the 20$ than ANY ASCS race i have seen at the fairgrounds in a long time.
if ya'll did think the track was less than stellar saturday - ya'll still put up a stellar show on it.

I guess Friday just overshadowed Saturday in my mind. If Saturday was a weekly show it probably would have been different to me. I agree on the ticket prices. That was outrageous. We talked about that a few times over the weekend. I'm glad it was a good show for the fans, because i know being shorted the heats and still having to pay extra isnt cool.

The flagman, for the first time in history, makes a call that Sellers passed before the cone and makes a bad call. Guess he should leave the running of the race to the folks in the box. Video shows Sellers NOT jumping the restart!!!!!

We were at Lawton every weekend and I don't remember Robert ever jumping a start - which is probably why no one said anything Nor did it look like he jumped the restart at SFS last weekend.
