So far Dewease, Rahmer, the Zemco team and now Doug Esh have all said they won't be running for points in Central PA next year. Looks like it might finally be a turning of the tide? The rest of the country figured out it wasn't worth spending $300,000 to run for $3000-to-win fifteen years ago... Why now? Because all our heavy hitting local car owners like Hamilton who were willing to pay a large salary/retainer plus a normal percentage are all gone? When you have to race for a percentage alone even the big dogs will leave the porch?
Harz knew his time was up.
"I've got great sponsors I never could have done this without," said Harz. "They're people I love going to the races with, but it's still hard to make ends meet."
"Our team made more money this year than all but four sprint teams in the United States--and they all tour with the Outlaws," added Harz. "But it's still not enough."
"Bob Weikert was my hero as a car owner--a guy I looked up at many years. He had the winning cars and was in the limelight in victory lane. He made some predictions and backed it up. He was the man."
"But he stayed in it too long. Many people only know of his cars from the last years when he couldn't afford to compete. I didn't want that happening to me." - Joe Harz AARN
