After seventeen-year old Jordan Goldesberry picked up his first career sprint car win the weekend before at the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders stop at Illinois' Spoon River Speedway, Goldesberry Motorsports looked to finish their '08 campain on a high note. But mechanical problems worked to put the brakes on their momentum.

Friday night, October 3 saw the Goldesberry family transporter make the short trip west from Springfield for the Herb Barlow Memorial at Jacksonville's Morgan County Speedway. After bringing the Redline Oil, NGK Spark Plugs, K&N Filters, Ultrashield, Mothers Wax, Goodridge Fittings, Modern Paving and Scrap Eagle Chassis #65 home 4th in the E. G. Staats & Company Awards Heat Race #1, Jordan would start the Ideal Ready Mix 25 lap A-Main from outside the 5th row. Having lost the brakes early in the race, the second year sprint pilot found himself having to drive conservatively, ultimately finishing 12th, the final finisher on the lead lap.

The next night would see the bright yellow racer make its final 2008 appearance in the Hawkeye State, as the SIA would bring down the curtain on its 7th season of competion at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. After pulling a high pill number, the 2007 SIA Rookie of the Year would start dead last in the E. G. Staats & Company Awards Heat Race #1. Despite picking up three spots in the 8-lap prelim, Jordan would have to earn his way into the A-main from the first Holtkamp’s Trailer Repair B main. After finishing 3rd in the 12 lap "last chance" race, Goldesberry would set sail in the feature from inside the 11th row.

Heading topside at the wave of the green flag, Jordan picked up a number of postions before running off the top of the track in turn two on the 5th lap. Restarting tailback on the field with 20 circuits remaining, Jordan once again went rimriding. Despite once again encountering brake gemlins, Jordan ultimately brought the family racecar home with a respectable 10th place finish, his 15th and final Top 10 finish of the year.

Way to go Jordan. You've been a pleasure to watch progress. This young man doesn't have any quit in him. See you at the banquet Goldsberrys.

Tell me how much money you got and I'll tell you how
fast you can go!
