Velocity speed report
October 2nd and 4th
chico silver dollar speedway
Thursday October 2nd had the velocity motorsports team lead by chuck cypert heading to silver dollar speedway for the first qualifying night of the fall nationals.
Myles bishop and the cv fabricators/maclac paints/mtl manufacturing/stud welding products/escalon body and paint/kaeding performance center/charlie fisher engines/maxim sprinter unloaded and hot lapped in the top 10 right off the trailer.
Myles would be the 34th car out to qualify out of 41 cars,his time of 12.102 was good enough for 13th quick.
The velocity team made some changes and got ready for the front row assignment in heat race number 1,myles would run tooth and nail bud and tim kaeding for the entire heat race and wind up second seeding him into the dash which decided the starting positions for the main event.
The dash would prove to be good to the team as myles started on the front row,myles would prove to be strong as he held off multiple time champion brent kaeding for the dash win.
The track stayed wet and sticky and would be difficult to pass on as the team made changes to adapt to the very fats racing surface provided by john and alan padjen.
The main event started very good for myles and team velocity as myles jumped into the lead and lead the first 7 laps,thats when disaster struck as a small miscue had myles trying to catch the car as it slid off the lip of the track entering turn one on the high groove where myles ended up spinning to not turn the car over.
Myles restarted at the rear of the 20 car field and finished 18th but in one piece,on to Saturday knowing we were strong.
Saturday October 4th
welcome to day 2 for velocity motorsports.
Well a lot had happen in 2 days as Friday nights show got rained out,yeah I know since when does it rain in October in chico?
Since fridays show got rained out it was decided that thursdays show points would be scrapped and the whole show be run on Saturday under a pill draw format.
Myles would be starting 5th in the 2nd heat race by virtue of the pill draw,myle and cv fabricators maxim would be strong enough in the heat race to get upto second place with multiple time main event winner roger crockett in tow.
The main event inversion draw was an 8 which put myles on the front row with roger crockett.
The green flag was thrown and crockett got the jump into turn one as myles settled into second right behind the leader,myles battled with crockett for several laps when another car tried the bottom of the track and got into myles left rear almost turning him over.
The red flag was thrown for the other car who turned over after contacting myles,under the red the team repaired myles car and he would restart and the rear.
The race restarted and myles was moving forward when several cars got together on the back straight and myles ended up getting hit and going upside down to end the night for the team.
