Just got off the SFS website. I noticed the grandstand ticket prices were doubled for this show. That's double the days and double the money. Slick old fart aint gonna see any of my money. Why are the fans gettin gouged so hard? I saw the pit passes are 25.00. Why? Did they change something to make the pit stalls better. Maybe they got new restrooms?
Sorry, just had to vent.

hey thats quality venting there. i dont think this show will even live up to what the last 3 weekly races were. as i think we may lose some mods to LCS. maybe. and yeah you are right - its double the price - for the same or less as what we see every week. not to mention less racing - as it isnt 2 full shows. its that BS format - no B mains on friday and all features on saturday. he sure is lookin to make a killing this weekend.
its probably nitpickin. but i just dont like it. i think championship weekend back at the end of august will be better than this weekend. the format and ticket prices certainly suggest it. i know i'll go to SFS friday. but right now my plans are to go to Lake Country Speedway in Ardmore Saturday Night. although i'm really holding out to see what both tracks produce friday and then decide after that. granted LCS pit pass is 30 vs. SFS 20 in the stands - but like i said before - IMHO i dont the ticket price is justified. i mean what are we paying the extra 10 for. it will be less races than if it were just a regular friday night show - because of no B Mains friday - no heats saturday. what are we paying the extra 10 for? Bloomquist, Martin Edwards, and Ezell? ........ passmore and smith we may get anyway - never know with them. the kicker is i dont think we will see the +30 mods we seen the past 3 or 4 races at SFS - i think many of those may go to Ardmore. so i think its usual car counts - maybe + a couple in each class - but possibly less mods. anyone know who plans to run where this weekend?
i completely agree with you skeesiks. i think its crap too. i think he's counting on even those who notice just paying it anyways. he's forgetting Cowtown is puttin on the best sprint show in the region this weekend BY FAR. And Lake Country will be puttin on the best mod show in the region this weekend (i assume) - i dont see SFS being the best in anything this weekend. i just still cant find one good reason for that ticket price..........lookin at the purse he is paying - i could see 15 both nights maybe.
better lay off - sure i'll weigh in on it again after i think about it some more.......

Are you sure that they are not running any heats on Saturday? That is making me furious as I type. I was planning on sacrificing my hard earned dollar to go ahead and get screwed one of the two nights, but $20 for what six races on Sat. night? (steam blowing out ears as hatred for the midget grows exponentially) I'm changing my screen name as soon as I come up with something!

I'm not going to lie...I hate this format. I don't know of any racers that do like it. Race the first night as a complete show. Top 4 make the first 2 rows of the A the 2nd night. The 2nd night you run another complete show and fill in spots 5-20 for the A. Do driver intros on the front stretch with a some sweet AC/DC hells bells pump up music and let us go at it for $2,000.

Ok, I just looked at the Winternat's flyer & its says weekly purse for Fri. night. Heats & features to be run Fri. Theres nothing about fan prices & $25 pitpass.
The $30 pitpass & $20 for the stands is on the big Modified show!
I might be wrong & probably am but unless my eyes are really getting bad in my old age, thats what I read!!!

Not that I want to start anything with you Flash, but read a little over to the right and further down the page on the SFS website. It states clearly what the special ticket prices are for not only the show for this weekend but also for the big modified show. My question is, why the inflated prices for tickets and pit passes? I see no reason for it other that the managment at SFS needs to pocket some extra cash because the car count is possibly gonna be low and they need to cover expenses. Does anyone else have an explanation for these inflated prices? Double for grandstand seats?

hey folks. we should just all say together. go out friday and if its bullshit - unless its some killer show with tons of cars or whatever and justifies the price for saturday - say screw you lanny. i know i am gettin hip to the notion of not going to the races anymore. backgate promoters in times like this are gonna kill this sport. sure it will survive for next year and what not ------- but for me its okc or bust - because i aint gonna drive for length for another show that is ok - but doesnt justify the ticket price either. especially this time of year ------- with football goin -------- these bastards need to make it worth it to spend the dough.
i think lanny is gonna make a lot more money this weekend than any of us can imagine. i dont care about talk of expenses. fact is 20$ x2,500 people x 2 nights = 100,000$ - thats not even gettin into pit passes. the entire purse of the 2 day show is 50,000. he's gonna bring in 200,000 or more - purse and expenses will probably near 60-75k and that may be high ended. i'm just saying - this dude may well be making more off a show like this than we think.....................
i may be leaving some stuff out - and if i am - please feel free to point it out - these are not meant ot be exact figures - it may be better than it looks - hell it may be worse. but just lookin at the obvious #'s ---this guy is gonna take home more profit than what the entire purse is for the drivers. my 200k figure may be high - it may be more like 150k -------- but still do ya'll see what i am saying? he is paying out 50k in purse - i think he will take more than that home - JUST PROFIT. i think he intends to effectively rape us all and hope we forget about it over the offseason - so we can come do it all over again for some shitty 20$ show that starts the season off next year. i hope he has been on the phone callin guys to come so to maximize the car count - anything less than the best turnout of the year in each class --------- and we will have been thoroughly bent over my friends.
in the last week fellas - i havent heard of any NEW drivers towing in from anywhere - i've just heard of a whole bunch LEAVING. guess tomorrow will tell the tale...........

Exactly Cody! I was figuring the numbers the other day and was being nice by thinking he would bring home 20-30 thousand dollars. But, I don't know how much he nets off weekly shows, and it is a long winter to go with no income.....Oh wait...the chili bowl. Ya know, if he was a great promoter and honestly gave a crap, I wouldn't mind him charging what he does. But this is just a glorified weekly show with a lot of the regulars towing to other tracks. I can't go Friday, but, I'll be there Saturday. I ain't missin that demo derby for nothin!

Then Mad Mike would wine that the tracks were too dry. D Jones would have a belly ache with the cheap hot dogs and beer. And a lot of drivers and crews would be mad at me for making them stay late to tear down 2 of the top 5 each and every night. However, Gossipman would be happy with the return of the Hooters girls (and the Little Ceasars guy. Anybody remember him? That thing used to freak me out when I was little.)

From what I just read, you'd be a better promotor than driver and I'll cast my vote in your favor already. Cheap beer and hot dogs, hell yeah!!! Crowd might even grow if you did that. Dry tracks? That's just a bonus.

I'd vote for Cheese as the new promoter!!!!
And, I must say, that Saturday night at SFS was a great show! Lanny did a good job getting the track ready, the car count was good, the fans in the fantasy section were fun and the racing was awesome! Thanks to all the drivers who were there Saturday night for a great family night at the track
