Lawton had 35 mods, I think 17 or 18 sprints. Sellers drove away, Jennings got second after Joe Bob Lee got sideways in front of Owens who was 2nd and 3rd at the time. Put Owens out of contention. Joe Bob got 3rd, think Martin Edwards got 4th.

Hell of a good race in the mods between Big Daddy Stanley and Clyde Dunn Jr. Stanley won, Dunn second, Beville third, not sure about 4th. One of the Allen's won Factorys, no idea on the rest. Tomorrow should be a good night of racing.

They could of used that boxing ring in the infield tonight thats for sure.

Lawton Speedway

The Mini stock heats were impressive as well, the #2 Casey Henning won his heat and lapped everyone but the pace car in the A Feature. Way to go Casey ! Great Show!

The car count was great and it will be even better Saturday Night with the Outlaw Super Sprints in town. The Mod-A was on your feet wild ass racing with Dunn and Stanley at it for most of it, with #24 Jeff Beville AS consistent as usual and stayed with them.

The pits were packed with cars, crews and drivers. Come a little early for Saturday as the best spots will fill up quick.

Lanny said he was trying to get some fuel on hand for Saturday, but be on the safe side and top off those cans if you have a source.

Yup Lanny was on hand to keep it rolling. It was a smooth night of racing considering the number of Heats that were run!

So far the first half of the Lawton Winter Nationals have surpassed last years show. I will be early for Saturday nights under the lights racing. If you were wondering if you wanted to go to LS, I say Hell yes.

Mike

Okay......!!!!

Before we get into another B A S H I N G of the # 2 Mini Driven By Casey Henning, let's set the record straight from the very beginning.

Folks, Casey ran all season starting from the mid to rear 3/4 of the pack and a few times on the back, due to his points lead and some break downs. The guy pulled off consistent top 5 wins from those lower starting positions and 6 A main wins and won the track championship for 2008.

The poster ,Milton Waddoms, knew these facts before he made his post about the #2 mini.

The # 2 driver is just a darn good driver, had a great car that was torn down 3 times this year, let me repeat it, torn down three times, and pumped up several times and on each and every occasion WAS FOUND TO BE COMPLETELY LEGAL !!

Casey Henning earned his Track Championship the way anyone else could, with three years of hard driving and mistake making.

He learned his lessons well and put that education to good use in his car and in his driving skills. He kept his mind and energy on the car and on the track racing.

I wish I could understand why some folks wont give the kid his due! Oh well there loss, cause the other 99% of folks appreciate a winner like Casey and respect him for his accomplishment.

If I were them I would want to be friends with Casey and learn all I could from him and his Championship Season.

NOW TO THE STATING POSITION.

The #2 car started on the front in the A Main BECAUSE THE RULES SAY THE FAST WINNERS START ON THE FRONT OF THE A MAINS during winter nationals. I wish it were so in regular season racing, but that is another topic.

Anyway.......except for a few grumbling types, the Mini Stocks put on a good show as did all the other series cars and drivers and everyone had a great time.

MM at the track.

I dont know the young man or really ever herd of him but to win a championship he must be one heck of a driver. And I agree with you 100% about others learning from him. I have been there and my friend Johnie Rauschenberg drove a mini stock and tought me so much but of corse he would'nt give me all his secrects, but if it was me I would not also. I appreciate everything he has tought me. I went from getting lapped to finishing in the top 5 all most every week. I can not thank him enough. I just wish my dad was still alive to of seen it, but he supported me still no matter what, and Im sure he is watching from above.

Your kidding. I'm not bashing the 2 car, just stating the facts. If memory serves me right you start the A Main according to finishing and passing points in your heat race not because your the fastest car. And with the 10n racing in the mod division who is your competition? Thats why it's a no brainer that the 2 car won.

Here we go again !!!!!

Lets no DOWN Casey Henning for being a Winner !

If you start on the pole or near the front because of your final heat positions, and number of cars your passed,.......ahhh ....well that would be the fastest cars would be starting at the front !!!!

That would also " mean" you are a fast car.....cause slower race cars have to start farther back in the pack !!

10n ? Boy you guys never give up. How about you let it go and put your time and energy on building a car for next year and de-briefing all this years past races for signs of wisdom to put into your race program in 2009? Instead of fixing blame.

10n isn't that tough anyways. If that memory of yours is as good as it seems to be you will recall #10n was starting up front most of the last part of the season and winning A mains. He started up front because of a late in the season start, ( Low Points), When we were able to work our way through the 10 to 15 car traffic, there usually wasn't any laps with to pick off old Nunley and we settled for a TOP 5 Finish. But dont forget our 6 A main wins!

WHO IS OUR COMPETITION ? We are our own competition as well as every other RACER who tows a car out to the track to put their newest package and skills to the test. We work to improve the car every week, and Casey learns fast and puts that knowledge on the Track where it counts! The day we think we are faster, better, or have more luck than the next guy, is the VERY DAY we get our butts run over!!!

The FACTS that I state are viable and all inclusive. There is no shame in being a winner. We as a team will not apologise for making it all work this year. After all, isn't that the goal of every Racer and Team?

Wow this almost appears to be a sore loser comment ... I do agree Casey is not a bad driver but wholly cow he is not the only one out there and Yeah it does and would be boring if he was the only one to always win So the comment about the worthless cause sounds like a poor sport ... cause you all cannot always be winners I do not care for Henning or The nunleys but god forbid anything happens to them it is always put on here as anything and everything else is a worthless cause and excuse me if I read that wrong but I think a Lot of credit goes to TYLER WEBB he sure did not and has not always had to be in the lead ... I mean it is racing but if heening always has to be a winner to make it a great race then I am thinking that he nedds to be racing alone and all ... I know I personally would be bored if it was always the same person winning week after week in all 5 classes....I personnally do not think Casey Henning seems like the kind that is going to down any of his fellow racers for beating him or at least I would hope not or he is a poor sport and he does not appear to be that way when he talks during the trophy and all

I am hoping that I misread that and you tr uly were not talking crap about someone else winning once in a while NOW LETS LOOK ON TO 2009 RACE SEASON

Nah I don't cheer when things like that happen, but I did do a jig when the 03 Sprint car came from the back to finish 3rd after a RACING DEAL that caused him to turn over.

Yes, I believe you mis-read that comment.

The worthless cause I was referring to was the Wishin' and Hopin" that Casey Henning or any other Winning Driver loses, for no other reason than he is a winner and your driver isn't, for that night anyway.

Life is not fair. It's not supposed to be. Racing is not about being fair. Not everyone gets a Blue Ribbon or Trophy that says first place just for finishing the race. If that were true then why would we compete with one another for first place and championships.

Someone has to win each race. Someone has to win the Championship. That is what every driver and team shoot for. ........AGAIN....this time it was Casey Henning who made it happen on the track and he WON the Championship !! Why is that so hard for some of you folks to accept and be happy for the kid?

Look every driver who slips into a seat wants to win. Otherwise they wouldn't do it. They want to have all the Glory and bragging' rights that come with it. Don't act like they don't want to be in Casey Hennings shoes. They do, and next year they will have another chance to pull it off.

But remember.....ONLY one person wins each race, and there can be only one Champion in each series. So get over Casey being a winner, he earned it. Next year it is wide open for another Champion.
