Fuel price check from this morning, Oct 1st:

Diesel 3.79 Unleaded Reg 3.49 at I-20, exit 38 in Haughton, LA. That's lower than what it was before Hurricane Ike on the gas and same price on the diesel. Maybe it'll keep dropping.

On another note:

Gas prices continue to fall in the area!

I paid 2.99 yesterday in Bossier City, LA and prices are going lower today. That's $1.00 down from it's peak earlier this year. Saw an Exxon at 2.99 this morning. Radio reported Flying J at the Texas line ws 2.89 for regular. Don't know what diesel was there but it was 3.43 at the Pilot in Haughton. Got another report that regular was 2.87 in Atlanta, TX too. That's just southwest of Texarkana. That Exxon I passed this morning had 3.22 for unleaded supreme.

Some "experts" are saying it'll be $2.50 for regular unleaded by Thanksgiving. Guess "bad"economy means lower gas prices. High gas prices helped get us the bad economy along with some really stupid mortgage loan laws.

Enough of that! Cya @the Races!

David and the crew are at the track working it into shape after yesterday's rain. There is nothing on radar but there is a light mist at times at the track that is not showing up on radar.

Duncan Transportation is on hand with some extra equipment to help too.

TONIGHT'S PRACTICE IS STILL ON!!! You can still pre-register at the track tonight before 10PM and save on the entry fee. Just $100 for Mods & Lim Mods and $30 for the Stock Car classes.

If anything changes on that, we'll let you know ASAP.

The forecast is outstanding for Friday and Saturday just don't forget the jacket! Low temps are 48 both nights and that's going to feel on the cool side after a hot summer of action but rain is not a factor either day according to weather.com!

Right click on the back of tyhe flyer above and print out the entry form. Fill it out and bring it with you. It will save time!

I hear the practice turnout was really good this year. The waether is doing exactly what they said it would do so it lookslike the 2008 Texas DIRT Shootout is going to be a good one!

Qualifying starts TONIGHT!

Morgan Bagley passed Larry Fears late in the race to give a pair of Shaw Chassis the top two spots for tonight's $3500 to win co-main event after last night's qualifying. Wayne Brooks also was there but had motor trouble in a 2nd #5R Shaw-by-Brooks.

BJ Robinson and Chris Henigan were 3rd and 4th in last nghts A-main. Kyle Pleasant also made the show with Michael Robertson just missing by one spot. But Michael has a good spot in tonight's $3500 to win Limited Modified feature......

48 Mods

Jamie Burford turned in a solid qualifying effort with his TRE Chassis in the Limited Modifieds and led that A all the way while Michael Robertson rallied his way out of a B-main to a 2nd place finish in the A qualifier.

There was a black #4 (needing driver's name) in third with John Whittington getting 4th and Travis Evans getting 5th. Both are Hot Chassis.

A #56X from Enid, Oklahoma also made the show as did Bob Kellogg.

Jenson Prey also has his #57 up from the Rio Grande Valley and will try again to make the A tonight.

It's over at Texas DIRT at 11:10!

Morgan Bagley and Jamie Burford have held serve (pending tech -- and their pulling transmissions in Limiteds right now) and took home a $3500 win each.

The UNOFFICIAL top 5 (I'm not there -- this is by phone!)

1. Morgan Bagley - Shaw

That would give Morgan $7000 in his last 2 Texas DIRT starts in the Stan Roland Shaw-by-Brooks #5R. USMTS Dustin Duncan RotY title next? Bring on Texana & HRP!!!

2. BJ Robinson - Dirt Works
3. Chris Henigan - TRE
4. Blaine Shives - Hoffman
5. John Whittington - Pierce

Limited Mods (top 3)

1. Jamie Burford - TRE
2. Michael Robertson - Smiley's
3. John Whittington - Hot

8. Bob Kellogg (thanks for the partial results!) He's being teched right now too and he was 8th!!!

The black 4 in Limiteds was Jimmy Day I believe. There are some other Days or teammates there with him. More when I get it....
