1997 HUT HUNDRED WINNER JASON LEFFLER BACK FOR SATURDAY'S 57TH RUNNING AT TERRE HAUTE

SEPTEMBER 29, 2008--- Jason Leffler of Long Beach, Calif., the 1997 winner of the prestigious 'Hut Hundred,' is entered for this Saturday's 57th scheduled running of the 100-lap USAC Mopar National Midget race at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.

Leffler, who also won the pole for the 100-lap race in 1998, was second to Kevin Olson in his first start in 1996 and fourth in 2002, the last time he competed in the event,

The only driver since the late Jimmy Davies (1960-1962) to win three consecutive USAC National Midget titles (1997-1999), Leffler joins a talented field of drivers for Saturday's race, including former race winners Darren Hagen (2006), Bobby East (2004), Dave Darland (1999 and 2003) and Mike Hess (2002).

"I've never run for Don (Fike)," Leffler admits. "But the way his cars have run this year I'm looking forward to Saturday. When you talk about Midget racing in the Midwest, the Hut Hundred is always at the top of the list, and I'd like to win it again. I haven't run at Terre Haute since 2002 but it'll be fun to get back there."

Leffler admits to being behind on preparation of his own car, hence the call to Fike to drive the RFMS machine Saturday. At Rossburg, Ohio, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. appeared on his way to a spectacular victory in the '4-Crown Nationals' in a Fike car until an accident on the backstretch left the car in pieces.

The Esslinger Ford Jason will run Saturday last competed with Thomas Meseraull driving at the 2008 Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Okla. Its last USAC appearance was at Sun Prairie, Wisc. in 2006, driven by Tracy Hines.
