Who can we expect to show up for the Oval Nationals? First off I believe that most of the CRA regulars will be in attendance as well as a few of the Victorville regulars - Seth Wilson for one. Drivers from Arizona may include Jeremy Sherman, Charles Davis Jr. with Mike Martin, Nathan High, Josh Pelkey and frequent PAS visitor R.J. Johnson. We should include Casey Shuman here as he is based at least part of the year in Arizona. Coming off of last year's terrific run at the Oval Nationals it would be disappointing if Shuman couldn't make it. From Northern California you can expect to see TK, BK and Bud Kaeding. The Duke McMillan #10 sprinter, also based in Norcal, should be expected with possibly Jesse Hackett behind the wheel. Also Kevin Swindell in the #10 sprinter, also based in Norcal, may decide to run. Both Hockett and Swindell were impressive at Calistoga as was TK. Peter Murphy, the Bandit Champion, hopefully will be there in the Tarlton sprinter. Also Danny Faria is thinking of running this year. VRA regulars could include Kevin Kierce, Brandon Thomson and the Camarillo brothers are possibilities.

With only six races left on the USAC National Sprint Car series and five of them on the west coast, it would appear that the top five drivers in points will be out for Ovals. Levi Jones, Jerry Coons Jr., Sand Diego's Cole Whitt, Tracy Hines and Dave Darland are still in a battle for national points. You could also throw in Riverside's Darren Hagen, former CRA runner Damion Gardner and Arizona's Chad Boat into the mix. Then there is Hockett and Robert Ballou both former Norcal runners. Darren Clayton may be back to the west coast in a Glenn Crossno Viper. Other national drivers may include Shane Cottle (6th in points), Brady Bacon, Grass Valley's Brad Sweet (Eldora four crown winner), Brady Short, and former California shoe Chris Windom.

This may be a wish list on my part as we are up against a sagging economy, gasoline prices and a reduced payout for this year's event. Feel free to add to or delete any of the names that I have mentioned. Should be a great show at the PAS. Don't forget that Ralphie and Turn4rob are accepting donations for the purse from race fans for the Oval Nationals.

Yeah its gonna be really interesting to see who runs this year. I would love to see some VRA guys like Greg Taylor, Rick Hendrix, and Steve Conrad bust out a 410 and give it a go.

I haven't called him to ask but if we want to throw names out, how about JJ?

Wakim maybe in a 410

Taylor barly runs the VRA schedule

Rutherford didn't run the CRA race at Ventura, but he had a really bad crash the week before the race (in a VRA race).

Maybe the Camarillo Bros. (in Josh Fords equip?)

But were a long way from a 70-80 car field.

The costs of taking two days off of work, to run for a horrible purse when you average it out over 3 days, plus travel costs, and to run against guys with MAJOR NATIONAL SPONSORSHIPS and big dollar HP engine programs, it kinda makes it hard for the local racers to make sense economically to support the PAS for 3 days.

As a fan, its still a bargain, its the best 3 days of racing, and I'll be there!

Why run the Ovals..for exposure..you get to race the best of the best....Darren Hagen,Josh Wise,Brad Sweet...the list goes on of talented West Coast drivers who showed they could 'get it done' against the best and oppertunities opened up for them.Thats why you race the ovals......the fans get to see the best there is and the future of sprint car racing and you can meet the racers at the end of the night. One of the greatest events the West Coast has to offer fan and racer alike...how could you not go?

I wonder if Josh Wise will be there because I think the Nationwide series is running Texas so i wonder if he will drive the sprint or the Nascar????
