WESTERN SPRINTS AT ALTAMONT SATURDAY; HUNT FINALLY FINDS WINNERS CIRCLE AT ROSEVILLE
SEPTEMBER 22, 2008 --- Tanner Swanson continues to lead the USAC Western Sprint Series standings going into this Saturday’s events at Altamont Raceway Park in Tracy, Calif. In six starts at Tracy this season, Swanson has a victory, three thirds, a fourth and a fifth.
Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif., after fighting mechanical gremlins all year, finally put his Toyota-powered machine into victory lane Saturday night at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. He passed Porter Smith on lap 57 and led the final 44 laps to beat Swanson, Smith, Paul Zimmerly and Eric Humphries to the flag.
Hunt was also the fastest qualifier at Roseville and is currently sixth in the series standings after his win.
JoJo Helberg, Swanson and Smith all led laps during the first 56 laps of Saturday night’s 100-lap race.
