FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS - LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS - FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT AT PERRIS THIS WEEK!

(SEPTEMBER 23, 2008, PERRIS, CALIFORNIA) It will be two busy nights of racing action this Friday and Saturday at Don Kazarian’s famous Perris Auto Speedway. On Friday, September 26th, the popular Riverside County clay oval will play host to night one of the Kal-Gard Lightning Sprint Car Nationals. On Saturday the 27th, Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply will present the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and Round Two of the Kal-Gard Lightning Sprint Car Nationals on the track’s Annual Fan Appreciation Night. Lots of lucky fans will take home prizes on Saturday. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00 each night.

“The Lightning Sprit Cars have provided a ton of talent to the USAC/CRA Series,” promoter Don Kazarian said on Monday. “Guys like CRA point leader Mike Spencer, David Cardey, Tyler Brown, Johnny Bates and others as well. They are a valuable part to the racing scene and they always put on a top notch show. With extra money up this weekend, the competition should be great.”

The Lightning Sprint Cars will be racing for $1,250.00 to win on both Friday Saturday and the extra green is expected to draw in some drivers from other sanctioning bodies in the west.

Heading into this weekend’s Lightning Sprint Car action, past champion Brent Sexton of Lakeside holds a 43 point lead in the championship standings over Stuart Hielscher Jr. of Murrieta.

On the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series front, Norco’s Tony Jones, the 2007 USAC/CRA Champion and the current Perris Auto Speedway point leader, will be seeking his third PAS win a row when the powerful 800 horsepower cars take to the track on Saturday. The likeable 38-year old was winless in 2008 before winning at The PAS on August 23rd. Two weeks ago he looked set for a second place finish in the main, but when his uncle, Rip Williams wheelied, as he was coming off turn four and heading for the checkered flag, Jones pounced on the opportunity and beat Williams to the checkers in a thrilling finish.

This weekend’s fall season opener will include qualifying, heat races, B main events and wild A main events. As always there will be the extra fun for the kids! There will be a Big Wheel heat race during one of the breaks in the action and, of course, the popular PAS Dance Contest at intermission. Also at intermission, one lucky child will win a free bicycle courtesy of Gardner Motorsports.

Advance tickets for this weekend’s races and nights of family fun are available now by calling (800) 595-4849 or (951) 940-0134. You can also order tickets on the Internet at tix.com or perrisautospeedway.com.

Tripcrwn,

Garrett will not be racing till possibly the 18th of October due to some physical issues he has with his neck from last Saturdays crash at Manzy.Doctors told him he needed to take some time off from racing for a few weeks. He is very sore and pretty beat up after the grinding crash Sat. night.Thank you for your concern.
