Sunday's 25th Annual Tom Knowles Memorial Up Next for Sprint Invaders!

(Bill W) The 25th Annual Tom Knowles Memorial at the Spoon River Speedway near Canton, Illinois blasts into action this Sunday night! The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will be joined by the POWRi midgets to form a potent doubleheader on the extremely high-banked 3/8 mile oval! It will be a battle for the $1,500 to win prize!

Who can slow down John Schulz? For awhile, last Saturday night at the Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Illinois, it looked like "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison might. Schulz found his way by on a restart at the halfway point, and roared to his fourth Sprint Invaders win of the season at four different tracks.

John's win solidified his spot atop the series' point standings. The "Lil' Dude" Bobby Mincer used a third place finish to maintain his second place spot, just fourteen markers behind the leader. "The Professor" Josh Schneiderman is only 28 points out of first, as he tries to catch his Deuce Motorsports teammate and uncle in the standings. Matt Rogerson is fourth, though Korey Weyant closed the gap with a solid second place finish at Moline, and is just five points out of fourth. "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison, "Special Delivery" Matt Harms, Jimmy Davies, Jordan Goldesberry and Russ Hall round out the top ten in the point standings.

The rookie race just got more interesting as well. With 15 year old Austin McCarl missing the Moline race due to Homecoming commitments, "The Flying Farmer" Andy Huston pulled to within seven points of "A-MAC".

This will be the third career feature for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders on the high banks of the "Spoon". The series raced twice there in their inaugural 2002 season. Mincer and Bobby Hawks were the winners that season. Who will it be this time?

Anticipation is also building for the final weekend of the season on October 3 and 4 as well. $1,500 will be on the line in the "Herb Barlow Memorial" held at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois on October 3. October 4 will serve as the season finale at 34 Raceway near West Burlington, Iowa. The winner will claim $1,500 that evening, and a stout field is again expected to vie for it.

Camfab Offers Bonus for the "Highest Finishing 305"

Camfab has offered to award a $25 Gift Certificate from Midland Performance to the "Highest Finishing 305" in each Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invader feature race.

Great job at QC speedway Bill W.

Also wanted to thank everyone for making our bus trip to QC such a success. Trialways of Burlington and the QCspeedway treated our fans to a great trip. We hope to do this again next year since we got such a positive response. Maybe we can get some ideas from the fans for our next trip. Thanks Again

Chris

I talked to three or four fans under the stands that wish we could do this for all our shows. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Rusty and all that helped out...

Just wanted to remind everyone that their will not be a charge for temporary passes at this race. Thanks to Manny Rockhold ( Automotive Machine ) all T.P.'s have been taken care of. So show your appreciation by supporting this years Tom Knowles Memorial. The racing should be interesting with the top 5 points chasers so close together you could cover them all with the same blanket. See you at Spoon River Raceway Sunday.

Is this race track in an actuall town?  How far is it from Knoxville?  Is little McCarl racing?  What is the best way to get there from Knoxville? Hey thanks

It's outside of Canton, Ill.

I can't remember exactly how far it is from Burlington to Canton but I'd imagine the quickest way from Knoxville would be 92 to Osky, 63 to Ottumwa, 34 to Burlington, go across Great River Bridge, take first right at stop light (Carman Blacktop Road #522, water standing on both sides impossible to miss), drive South about 10 miles to Lomax, hang and head east on Ill. 96 for about ~5ish miles, turn right onto Ill. 94 and head south to LaHarpe, take a left at the fork rd. in LaHarpe onto Ill. 9 and I think that takes you very close to where the track is at. I'm not sure the road names around the area, someone else may be able to better help you with those. I know it comes up on you quick and you have to drive through a forest to get to the track (from the east side anyways).

I'm thinking this is the fastest way but am unsure how much time it would take.

Nope... It's in a beautiful country setting... overlooking the Illinois River bottoms.

Spoon river speed way is just a nice Sunday afternoon cruise from Knoxville.

I would assume Austin will be there.

Like Sprintfan16 said... or you might want to follow Illinois 34 over to 94 south (about 3 mi) to 116 west. Take 116 west all the way to Farmington, where you'd get on 78 south. Take 78 south thru Canton to 24 (20 mi). Turn left on 24 and look for the sign on your left.

I'll leave it up to my "navigator"... but we'll probably go through Lomax and Terre Haute, then take hwy 9 all the way to Canton

Hope to see ya there and grab a few folks to share the evening with.

Spoon River, IMO, is the best example of a mini-Eldora. Extreme high-banked 3/8...see you there...

Just getting ready to load up and head to Spoon River. Can't wait to get started. This is one of my favourite race tracks to try and figure out. Don't miss this show. Besides they have some great tail gate parties at Spoon.
