Bakker takes JSTS win at Park Jefferson Speedway

Jefferson SD (September 19, 2008) – The Jackson Speedway Touring Series hit the road for night three of the of the tours fall fun series at Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota. 30 JSTS 360 Sprints signed in for the nights racing action and taking the 20-lap A Main event was Gregg Bakker, Sioux Falls SD.
The 20-lap Feature event nearly went green-white-checkered, with only one caution coming out late in the race. At the start it was Scott Winters, Butterfield MN, getting the early lead from his outside row one starting spot. Shawn Van Wyhe, Rock Rapids IA, would get the second spot as Dusty Ballenger, Sioux Falls SD, got the third position. As the field continued to sort themselves out Winters would maintain the number one spot, but Jody Rosenboom, Rock Rapids IA, would move into the second spot, getting by Van Wyhe and Ballenger. Lap three saw Gregg Bakker continue to move through the field as he would slide into the third spot on lap three. The leaders now put several laps in the books with Winters up front followed by Rosenboom, Bakker, Ballenger, and Jason Danley, Lincoln NE. When the leaders starting entering lap traffic just past the halfway point in the race, Bakker and Rosenboom battled for the second spot. On lap twelve Bakker and Rosenboom raced side by side battling it out for the second spot. One lap later Bakker would get by Rosenboom and move into second, meanwhile moving up into the top four was Jack Dover, Springfield NE, as he moved into the fourth spot on lap fifteen, and two laps later he got by Rosenboom for third spot. As the leaders were working on the nineteenth lap Bakker would get by Winters coming out of turn two and take the lead. As the white flag was displayed Bakker had the lead followed by Winters, Dover, Rosenboom and Ballenger. Then the races only caution came out when Ryan Bickett, Ramona SD, came to a stop off of turn four. That set-up a two lap dash for the win. On the restart Gregg Bakker would hold off the field but Winters would only hold Dover off for one lap. When the checkered flag flew it was Gregg Bakker taking the win followed by Jack Dover, Scott Winters, Jody Rosenboom, Dusty Ballenger, Jason Danley, Curt Lund, Chad Humston, Giltner NE, Mark Toews, Spirit Lake IA, and John Klabunde, Ft. Calhoun, NE. The B Feature was won by Curt Lund with the heat races going to Dusty Ballenger, Jack Dover, Shawn Van Wyhe, and Scott Winters.
The next Jackson Speedway Touring Series events are back at the Jackson Speedway, Jackson, Minnesota for the Fall Extravaganza races September 27th and October 4th. Hot laps both nights are at 5:00 p.m. with racing to follow.
