The fans that paid top $$ for their Gold Cup tickets to see McCarl, Schatz, Meyers, compete on Saturday got ripped off. If the WoO gave points like they do on a 1 day show for where they finished, they would not have dropped out or left. They would have been in the work area trying to get their car back on the track. Since everyone gets 75 points no matter what place you finished why come back out and that is what the drivers did. Jason Meyers won on Friday and the win was only for the purse that night and position on Saturday night, not to gain any points on the point leader. He could have gained a few more points to make the point battle more competitive. This is what brings more fans to the last few races of the season also - a close point battle. The WoO need to change their point system because the fans got ripped off not seeing McCarl, Schatz, Meyers, etc, compete. We paid $$ to see all the Outlaw drivers compete not to drop out or leave. Dont you believe Schatz & Meyers both would have worked on their cars and got back out there so they could gain points on each other? McCarl would not have left early. That is what the fans are here for to see ALL the World of Outlaw Drivers compete all night long – not to quit.
Another issue: Can someone explain the payout

Normally the B main drivers that finish ahead of the Cmain driver get more. Not here according to what is posted on WoO site. And also No payout for a few positions? they were not provisional. And some 360 sprint cars drivers got WoO payout and some didnt??
Thursday and Friday payout doesnt make sense too. Cmain drivers getting more the the Bmain Drivers

I went to all three nights of Gold Cup action this year like I do most. I never feel ripped off.

Rather than complain here, why not go the the WoO website and send them an email? I'm sure that they'll be able to explain the points issue, as well as the payoff. No conjecture, either....
And whenever the WoO races in a show that does not follow the standard Outlaw format, that's when they award the single point amount to all of their teams... Way too many variables in with a split field, and a two or three night show, for the points to be awarded fairly on all of the nights....Heck, a bad night in qualifying(see Shane Stewart) can kill your weekend, and it's likely that the pill draw had a lot to do with Shane's poor time....
Chuck.....

Ya know i was a little disappointed to see mccarl go, but i will say this. There was sone good racing there, and again for me as well, i have been going for 6 years now and i gotta say i have never been disappointed at Gold Cup. Of course iI gotta say GO ALLARD! But otherwise still a great great gold cup for me and i hope that everyone had even half as good a time as i did!!!
GO ALLARD!!!!!!

The Gold Cup is awesome and there is very little room for improvement with either the format or the organization but the pay-out situation could use realignment. Example: BK finished 4th and received about $4700 dollars. Before you say "WTF is wrong with $4700!", consider the winner received $50K! Quite drop-off I'd say. Consider this, 99 out of a 100 times an Outlaw is going to win the Gold Cup, so the big money leaves town. That leaves the locals (those who support JPM every week) to fight for the scraps (and by-the-way receive no provisionals). I bet if you asked Brent if he made money this weekend he would say no. After he purchased pit passes (est $1500 alone), tires, diesel, methanol, motels, beer for the Hogs and breakfast, lunch and dinner for Shaver; the money was gone. And BK is not even the best example because of the off-set from his parts business.
The top-loaded purse gives JP bragging rights but it benefits a select and professional few. All the same race cars will be there if the pay-out is not so top heavy and those who finish down the order will have some much needed funding to race another day.

About spreading the money out for the locals, well then that would take away from the 50K to the winner. Isnt that what its all about, the winner? Just when the Gold Cup gets the big payout of 50K to win, someone wants more money spread out through the field. On a Saturday night its all about the winner! I like the fact that the winner gets 50K, and more then that, its the Gold Cup. It isnt about the money so much as it is to stand atop that podium after three nights of racing and being the top dawg! And having over 100 competitors compete, makes it even that much better. Thats racin!

You apparently don't know much about the payout this year...We went from $11,000. for 2nd to $20,000. and $1000.00 to start. So please take note, we did increase the purse quite a bit and ours is more than the standard WoO payout......

My post does not question the top payout? Please read it again.
NOT complaining about the top payouts - glad to hear you increase it. I was just questioning or wondering why 4th place in the C-main ($300) made the same as 9th place in the B-main ($300) and 5th place in the Cmain-($250) was the same as 10th in the B-main ($250). etc. Please take note: Normally I would assume you get paid more in the B (since you finished higher) then the C - but I guess I dont know much about the payout this year.

Sideways, you, sitting in the stands, get to spend your $ on beer and a ticket. I get to buy tires, methanol and 3 days of pit passes. Does it bother you that I would like to cover 50% of my expenses? Or would you like me to spend more to entertain you?

This sport outpriced itself years and years ago. How do you make a small fortune in racing, start with a large one. I dont drink beer, im more of a Pepsiholic. I like to remember what happend.
