On Saturday morning when David Cardey woke up I am sure he never in his wildest dreams would have envisioned what lied ahead.
When David arrived at Ventura Raceway he was wondering why the hauler door was still closed and the car not out getting ready for the evening's racing. What he found out was that the rear hauler door would not open. Working away feverishly to solve the problem was the iTi Performance Motorsports crew. The problem was that the inverter that converts the power to 24volts had failed. While Glenn and Lonnie ventured out to find a replacement inverter the crew had to sit and wait. Glenn and Lonnie returned with some parts they hoped would work. In the mean time David had to sit and watch wheel packing, hot laps and qualifying not knowing if he would get a chance to race at all. Finally the rear door opened and the crew rapidly rolled the car out and got David buckled in. David was allowed to go out and warm up the engine with the Seniors and get about one lap at speed before he was to start at the rear of the heat.
David started last in his heat and without any practice battled his way up to third and transfered to the main. Starting the main dead last David worked his way to the front finishing the evening in sixth. David was in a new Viper Chassis that had never been raced at Ventura before. David would like to thank all of his crew for never giving up. He also said that he was very pleased how his new Viper Chassis performed that allowed him to capture the Hard Charger Award for the race.
iTi Performance would like to thank David for driving his heart out and the iTi Performance Motorsports crew for never giving up. Great Job Team!
