iTi Performance Motorsports is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Meier to the position of Director of Race Engine Development. Gary has come to iTi Performance Motorsports with credentials that will allow us to expand the direction of the in house engine department.

Gary has been building race engines for over twenty two years. Starting back in 1986 and working for Dan Gurney, he built engines that propelled them to the IMSA GTO championship in 1987. In 1990 Gary left Gurney to build engines for Nissan Technologies GTP effort. While there he added two more Championships to his resume while working with drivers Geoff Brabham and Chip Robinson.

In 1993 Gary left Nissan to take a job with Pro-Motor and move to Mooresville (NC). While there he built power plants for Jimmy Spencer, Lake Speed, Rick Mast, Morgan Shepard and Jeremy Mayfield Winston Cup Programs. At the race track Gary served as the engine tuner for Ricky Rudd's team a task he handled the year before for the Travis Carter operation. In 1997 Gary was the engine tuner for Ricky Rudd when he went on to win the Brickyard 400.

Tired of the travel and time away form his family Gary returned to California to build engines at CPR. Gary was in charge of building engines for 7 Winston West teams while there. Gary next venture was to JE Pistons where he worked for five years as the technical liaison to the Winston Cup Teams. Gary was responsible for all of the leading cup team's pistons. One of the other major projects Gary worked on was the development of new design pistons for Gaertes Racing Engines for the open wheel market.

In 2005 Gary moved to Las Vegas to work at Kroyer Engines. While there Gary built engines that won the Baja 500, Baja 1000, Vegas –Reno Off-road Race and has been building the Ford power plants for teams running atop the points standings for this year CORR Championship.

iTi Performance is very please to have Gary heading up our Engine Development Program and is excited about the opportunity that lies ahead.

I know this is none of my business, but I was wondering about Darron Clayton's performance @ Calistoga. We were anxious to see Clayton perform in the #83 ITI Performance sprint car. Were Clayton's problem driver or car related? Hope Mr. Crossno didn't pay for young Clayton's rental car. Thanks for the update concerning Gary Meier. Best of luck to the whole ITI team.

Darrons problems at Calistoga were engine related. The throttle shaft linkage got bent in the car. The particular injector that is run on that motor did not have a stop to keep it from going beyond center. When the linkage got bent they had a lot of difficulty getting it fixed.

Thank you. Can we expect young Clayton in an ITI viper during the oval nationals?

Tripcrwn,

Not sure at this date. That possibility has been discussed and yes he is one of the countrys most exciting drivers to watch. We will have to wait and see, our main focus is on David Cardey and the 38 car.
