what gives? did someone forget how to prepare a track after nationals? how many races is that in a row? i don't claim i can do better but then again it's not MY job. good lord this is getting kinda crazy. the drivers have to be getting frustrated too. i can understand once in awhile but this is way to many in a row.

i basically am asking is there a reason why the races have been so bad?

seems to me there should be some oldtime experts that might have some ideas on this subject, there have been many many bad races (parade's) in a row. if all of a sudden attendence was off 50 % because of rubber down i am sure the WOO suits would find a fix.

Seems to me that the WoO is getting what they want... tires that are too soft, and too wide... track prep can only do so much......And folks will attend the WoO, well, because they are the WoO.....

well i don't know about that. i for one am considering skipping my last Sprint race at U.S 36 to go see a RACE at I-55 with Late Models. i would hate to miss it but money it tight these days. if i'm going to spend a bunch of it i want to actually enjoy it. that's just my opinion.

maybe the ASCS can manage to put on a good show next year. don't get me wrong i love going to a Woo show but i also like getting what i paid for. and that is a race.

I attended the WoO show Saturday night at Skagit, my first time there in about 15 years. It rained out Friday night and had drizzled rain all week, therefore the track had plenty of moisture in it. So much that it rutted badly and a number of track workings were required during the show. I watched the first 10 or so laps of the feature with great pleasure but then so much dust and particles were thrown up and into the stands that it no longer was pleasant, in fact it became nearly unbearable. When the race was over I went down by the track and it was not dry slick at all. In fact it was tacky. I'm sure that Beitler and those before him have done a tremendous job of track preparation and are doing ALL THAT CAN BE DONE to insure a good track. I know that some effort has been made and some rules have been changed directed at unhooking the cars but more needs to be done. Locked down cars are turning wet clay into fine dust particles. No kind of track work can

prevent this How about this novel idea to unhook the cars ? Take off the wings.

You're correct on 1 point sprinter25...the WOO did get what they wanted ...they wanted to free the cars up by changing wing rules and for that they got more rubber down racing...It makes sense to me if the tire is hooked up it won't spin and as a result take the rubber from the tire & lay it on the track. Ever since they took away wicker bills & implemented useless wing rules all that happened is they got rid of a lot of three wide racing & gained more rubber down race tracks. One of the reasons they introduced wing rules was to hopefuly reduce the amount teams were spending on engine development.....doh! don't think that worked, nothing has changed there...For next season a new load of wing rules will be implemented, again to unhook the cars and guess what hopefully even up the playing field....We'll guess what it won't change JACK. The best guys will still win & even more tracks will lay rubber & oh yer...The poor old teams will spend a shit load of money building new cars & developing new shocks in order to get back somewhere near to what they have now, not to mention the impact it has on the local races who support the WOO races when they come to their track, these poor guys now have to carry a WOO legal wing. If they want to do something get a head & injector rule

I don't think it's just the rules, because 1 out of 5 races I've seen this summer in PA has been rubber down, if that much. Great track conditions at both Lincoln and Williams Grove (haven't been to Port), with multiple grooves and plenty of great racing. I didn't go to the summer nats this year at the Grove, but anytime the WoO are there the track is usually slicker. I was under the impression that the sanctioning body does much of the track prep (or at least sets guidelines) when they are in town? They purposely set the tracks up slick to be easier on equipment. I also agree, I don't think unhooking the cars will make for better racing, it will just cause drivers to spin more and lay down more rubber....just logic.

Unhooking the cars will bring out the driver in the race. Make the wings smaller & the tires harder & you would have a great combination. It wouldnt even cost a ton of $$ for the owners to convert.
