Top 5 was:

Bobby Hogge
Ryan Mcdaniel
Jeff Decker
Jerry Bartlett
Richard Papenhousen

Decker was the fastest overall qualifier of the night. I think the final count was 24 Late Models and 18 street stocks. Heather Bartlett won a very entertaining Street Stock main event.

Had a good time and think all of us really enjoyed the evening.

Hogge IV Scores Big Win at Chico

For the first time in nine years the powerful and exciting Late Model series raced at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. A total of 23 Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model drivers from all over California, Oregon and Nevada entered the pit area for an exciting night of racing. Yet, when it was all over, a familiar name was in victory lane. Bobby Hogge IV earned his sixth win of the year for the series and pocketed $3, 000. “I know this is a sprint car race track,” said Hogge IV. “But hopefully you fans enjoyed us and we can come back next year to put on another show.” Second went to Marysville driver Ryan McDaniel. The multiple time champion at Chico started sixth and on lap 15 moved into the second spot. From there he did not have anything for Hogge IV, but McDaniel should still be proud of his effort. Jeff Decker of Morgan Hill finished in the third spot. Decker started the night off by turning the quickest lap at a 15.193. Fourth went to fan favorite Jerry Bartlett of Yuba City. Bartlett started on the outside front row and held the second spot for a while until falling back to the fourth spot. The most exciting drive of the night went to Richard Papenhausen. The Chico champion led the first 14 laps of the main event before disaster struck. Going into turn three Papenhausen bicycled and almost flipped. He landed on all four but came to a stop and the yellow was needed. It was a bummer to see Papenhausen stop. Papenhausen was the only one who looked like he could give Hogge IV a run for his money. At that point Hogge took the lead and rocketed to his victory. Papenhausen did restart and made some great moves to come back and finish fifth. The speeds of this division were eye-opening to the fans and the quarter-mile surface seemed to provide lots of drama and good racing.

Rick Shafer won the six lap dash. However, his night turned sour, when he came out to start the main event with motor problems. He elected to start at the rear of the field instead of the pole position that he earned by winning the dash.

Ryan McDaniel won the first 10-lap heat race. Jerry Bartlett was the winner in heat two. Bobby Hogge IV won the third heat race.

Portland, OR driver John Duty was the highest finishing driver from out of state. Duty finished sixth after a great battle with Papenhausen for fifth. Paul Guglielmoni finished in the seventh spot. He continued racing in the main event with major damage to the side of his car. Leroy Perry of Marysville finished in the eighth spot. Reldon Hatch of Nevada finished in the ninth spot. Live Oak champion Matt Micheli finished tenth.

sorry fans, I did this work early this morning, sent it to our website and forgot to post it here. Just checking before I went to bed and saw I had forgot, so here is a quick recap with roster of the drivers...

Chris Morgan said their website should have a story real soon also...

Nice shots, Steve. Great work on Papenhausen! I thought he was going to roll the thing for sure!

The non-functional scoreboard for this event was a major disappointment. What's up with that?

I realize the Late Model guys may not run on AMB equipped tracks often enough to own a transponder, but JPM should have enough to supply them on a one night basis. The Street Stocks all own them. But the scoreboard was dead for everyone.

We trained Gary T. to run the lap counter on the old board, and he was presumably in the booth, but not even a lap counter? frown

Not up to SDS quality, IMO.

Joe

Basically the scoreboard runs off the transponder system and since that was in Placerville, that's why the scoreboard didn't work.

We had no idea how to run the new scoreboard manually, because when I ran the board it was the old one.
