Yes as it was announced here a couple of weeks ago. It will be the Sprint Series of Texas rules (SST) with the majority of the races held in Kansas. Their website can be found here http://www.sprintseriesoftexas.com/
More complete information should be made after the Labor Day weekend.

That was what my question was going to be how close are the two in rules?
Knoxville is also having a big show for the 305's in September I think.

410's to 360's now 305's huh? Next thing you know the NCRA will be running straight line 6 bangers. What was once a mighty proud sanctioning body is sure going down the drain!

How is NCRA going down the drain? They have their late model division which is averaging 32 cars a night through twelve events. Their 360 sprint series, which is not leaving, has had fourteen of sixteen drivers make all nine shows completed. Their modified series is still averaging close to thirty modifieds a show.
Next year NCRA will have the new 305 sprint series plus an NCRA/Oklahoma based modified division plus a sport mod division. NCRA is also working on a late model division for Southern Oklahoma/Northern Texas.

LOL I agree that is pretty good. Some people can't see the forest for the trees.

Please bring that "going down the drain NCRA racing" to the Oklahoma area. Just saw their sprint show in KS last weekend and those cars would be very competitive in the ASCS Sooner region.
I also only paid $8 for my ticket and was treated to an incredible atmosphere at 81 Speedway.
If you want to see "going down the drain" racing, come have to watch 8 champ sprints play follow the leader in Lawton every Sat. night for $10 per ticket. The only thing that saves that show is the mod. division.

Not sure why the comments about the late models and modifieds you all made as I was addressing "sprint cars". That was the thread topic wasn't it? Sprint cars? I didn't utter a word about door slammers. Sorry, no offense LOL
Point was that the NCRA has unfortunately lost it's status over the years as a "quality" sprint car organization. If one thinks starting a 305 sprint class is going to get fans all excited and attend the races in bigger numbers, guess again. Hell, a 305 is nothing but a tick over a 283!
I can hear the advertisement now......" Come see 305 sprint cars do 0-80 mph in a week and a half." I would rather see NCRA put more focus in trying to improve the sprint class they already have, not dilly dally with the SLOWEST sprint class out there.
As for the comment: " a sanctioning body that has probably been around longer than you been alive." Guess again. Hate to admit it, but I'm older than the NCRA.
As more the comment: "Just saw their sprint show in KS last weekend and those cars would be very competitive in the ASCS Sooner region." On a good night, maybe. To win races over an ASCS car, not likely.
Here is the order of sprint cars in terms of their strength of power:
1) 410 ci
2) 360 ci / ASCS configuration
3) 360 ci / Powered down from ASCS specs (Multiple sanctions incl. NCRA)
4) 305 ci
You see some of the nations top marquee drivers run the top 2 classes. You will hardly find them run the bottom 2. Note I said 'hardly' not never.

LOL @ the SCDD syndrome comment. That was funny! Again....... My topic was strictly sprint cars because............Thats what the thread was about!
I'm not saying that NCRA needs to go back to 410's either. A little too late for that. What I was trying to point out by the sprint car power listings is that the NCRA seems to be focusing on the weaker class of cars when they should be looking to improve what they have. Instead of a having a "Firecracker 50" race, they may be looking at running the "Sparkler 25" one day. UGH!

Ncra has done alot for racing in these parts and people are very protective of it.

When you look at the NCRA's history, which by the way predates WoO and the All Stars, it started out with 305 engines (302 Chevys and Fords) AND some straight line 6 bangers DID compete with them. So yeah, maybe we are going back to the good old days!
I watched 305 sprints a couple of years ago for the first time at K-C Raceway in Ohio as a companion show to Ohio Sprint Weeks. They weren't a bad show, even on a 3/8 mile.
What I don't understand, as I look at 305 rules around the country, is why, if your trying to save a guy some money, do you put injectors on a 305? You can get all the fuel you need thru a 500 cfm Holley. Also, why do some insist on putting tall tires and/or 5x5 wings on them? A 305 cubic inches will struggle to pull the big wing and the tall tire. Nobody is running anyone's pull off tires, so don't kid yourself the way the Fairgrounds did when we had to run the same Goodyear 31.5s or McCreary 32s that the 1/2milers ran.
I'd like to see a 305 class IF it had tires, wing and fuel system to match the smaller engine.

The SST runs a sealed motor so technical that should save someone money but we all know what that means.
Knoxville is going to run a 305 show later on in Sept. If Knoxville is running a 305 show that has to tell you somtthing. I am a sprint car fan I will admit it but like every type of racing. The prices have become crazy to get started in. This kinda goes back to the promoters topic. If a promoter can delevlop a class and keep the rules the same and be strict about the rules I feel as if it will be a sucess. The NCRA has a market already there with the Kansas 305's so we have to see what happens.

smileys sst sprints put on a great show. they are very competive and smiley runs a tight ship. sprint cars are expensive to race for the racer and promoters. the 305 cars allow a lot more racers to be able to run a sprint and they also allow promoters that cannot afford a ascs type show to give there fans a sprint show. your AVERAGE racefan does not know if it is a 305 or a 410 motor. they just know it is a sprint car and they love to watch them. i'm not talking about you guys that post on here a nd know every nut and bolt on a sprint car. we have the 305 sst sprints twice a year at lcs and our fans love them.

Ronny I have met Smiley and it does not surprise me that he runs a tight ship. He is one of the people I have met in the racing world that I respect as a person and a promoter.
With that series the only thing is that you guys are the closest track to Okc that runs them on a regular basis. If I had to goto Dallas week end and week out the money I save by running this car will catch up with me with travel.
