8/9 Merced, CA - 15 year old Matt Land of Elk Grove capitalized from
his second row starting position to win his first career Capital City
Midgets main event.
When the green flag dropped the old man of
the bunch Rick Young jumped out to a lead in his #99 Stealth. On the
dry slick track Young guarded the bottom, leaving the top for anyone
who dared, Land dared. On lap 5 land moved up high next to Young, the
two treated the crowd to some side by side racing before Land took the
lead for good. Following Land across the line were Young, Chris Veach
and Dillon Silverman.
In heat race action, Silverman thrilled
the crowd when he drove over a spinning Young and barrel rolled twice
in corner two. Silverman was driving his newly finished BEAST combo
car. Even with the roll, Dillon still made it out for the main.
Chris Veach ran his first race with CCM taking the dash in the Rick Young owned Stealth.
