I've never made the drive to Enid before (so sue me!) and I'm looking for recommendations on routing. 35 up to Rte 64 looks like the easiest way, but Rte 3 over to 81 is about 25 miles shorter. I imagine all those towns are a pain, right, or does 81 actually go around them? How do you regular Enid travelers make the trip?

Where are you coming from? If you are on the northwest side of town it is quicker to me to go up 81. If you are on south side or east side, it is easier to just stay on 35. I have gone both ways and it is about the same time depending where you are coming from.

now those towns are not big enough to be a pain - kingfisher is the biggest - yeah a few stops - but on the way back NO traffic - just make sure to not speed through Kingfisher lol................its like any other town with 10-20k people - a police force always trying to issue more tickets to justify more gov. money...................but if you dont speed and just drive right ------- it dont matter.

other than that there is Dover, Henrietta, Bison - 0 or 1 stop at most in each town. no 81 isnt a bad drive ------- its actually really good road and everything and does much to remind you how flat everything is. it kind of an historic drive - farmlands of course - but those are all railroad towns. began with the railroad and just have kind of stuck around barely - and hell they prob really began because the west fork of the chisolm trail wen through there. my grandpa worked for the railroad and we always enjoyed the drive - especially as i got older - listening to all the history and stuff.

o damn - wait a sec galen -------- DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT - TAKE 35. on our way to knoxville last week there was a ton of construction through there. single lane - a truck carrying onions of all things wrecked - slowed traffic down a lot and this was early in the morning - if that happened later it coulda been quite a hold up. there wasnt any construction on 81 when i drove it up to enid last year. yeah all round -------- I'd say it would be wise to take 81. many may disagree - but with the pain in the ass extended construction on 35 ------- 81 would be faster. and like i said - EISCHENS! lol. its really that good. man i gonna have to go there tomorrow now that i got to thinkin bout it...........lol. take 81 i say - take 81. just dont speed.

eif you ever go up there on a weekend i do (which is rare to never but i'd like to someday) - bring some friends and i meet you guys at eischens - damn that food is GOOD! i hate it when i think bout stuff like this when it too late to do anything about it lol.

Leave it to OKC Fan12 to give this long of an answer to a very simple question!

Going up hwy 74 is also very easy {Hefner parkway} it takes you to 412 with only Cresent and Covington. Plus you can make some real good time if you feel the need for speed.
