let's all hope together that there aren't anymore serious wrecks this week...!!!
between the 7 car pile yesterday that was as ugly as you'll ever see... crew of the 55 said it bent everything including the motor...
to the really bad one today with the jett in the 1z...it looked like he might have got hit while flipping... it's never good when the ambulance leaves with a police escort and a follow vehicle with his crew and family...
to brown on his side and on fire...thank goodness he safety crew was there ASAP, good job to the safety crew if there reading this, that was an awesome job on brown's car...
i hope beyond hope that there aren't anymore major accidents!!!
I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

From another forum:
I just got off the phone with my Posse buddies and one of them are kin
to Jeff. There is no solid news at this point, but the word is that
there is nothing life threatening. I should know more tomorrow. They
are loading up the car as I type this and the crew is headed home
tonight.

like the op said, it is never good to have an ambulance leave with an escort. they announced over the pa jeff was responding to the saftey crew. still they took the car to the barn, we all know that is not a good sign. i was in the infield and did not go to the wreck. a friend did and said he thought things were worse than they were letting on. i am not trying to jump to conclusions, as i do not know anything more. just hoping for the best.
ps. glad to see that while i was typing, that jeffs condition seems to be non life threatening. when they take the car to the barn and are hesitent with info it starts to prepare you for less than good news.

dont know if this is the truth or not but i was told they took the car to the barn because they could not get it to the hauler as it was blocked in.

I just have my fingers crossed for The Jet. A great guy and a great racer, been watchin him since he was a rook in the family #140 back in the day. Let's hope all is well for JS!

I hate to contridict information posted on another forum or any where for that matter. I am not in Knoxville this year sadly as I have moved to TX. However, If the car went to the barn it is not because it would not fit into the Hauler and the crew didn't load it up tonight. As someone else has already said a car to the barn is never good. I wish Jeff the best and am awaiting news.
If it is in the barn it stays for awhile until his condition is released and he is released. Also, until it can be inspected by track officials which is a protcol thing at the famed 1/2 mile.

It looked like he got hit by a tire while he was flipping-----I hate to speculate but I'd say it's a neck or back injury of some sort----hopefully he'll be OK and able to race-----He was unconscious for quite awile then woke up right as they started to remove him from the car according to reports--He was able to communicate with officials----Speedy recovery Jeff----We'll be thinking about you and praying for you

All sorts of rumors at the track tonight. None worth repeating here. Just pray that Jeff is not hurt bad and will have a rapid and full recovery!

Wow, what a sinking feeling to wake up and read this thread. Jeff Shepard has always been one of the most fan friendly drivers around. I have not talked with him in a while, but I wrote a column on him for a magazine here in the Northeast in the mid-1990s when he got hurt at Eldora in Al Hamilton's car. For years after that article came out, Shepard would always come up and talk to me when he saw me at the track.
Hopefully, things are not as serious as they sound. I quickly went and checked the Grove message board and even that board doesn't have any further info.

Best to Shep. Hope all is well.

Understand that the reason this was mentioned is not because anyone would be concerned about the car, but because anyone who has been to Knoxville knows that Knoxville impounds any car from an accident that results in serious injury or worse. I'm assuming to be able to investigate the why, how, etc to learn and help make cars safer.
To fans, it has become a very omminous omen to see a car taken to the barn. It usually means the worst. Thank god that is not the case here.

Big Kudos to the safety crews this week. Again, they show why they're the best in the business. Professionals all around.
