Too bad there was nobody in the stands to see the great drive by Heidi, if she didn't have all those rookies in her way she would have finished in the top five spots.

If Heidi was as good as you "THINK" she could go around all those ROOKIES.

Aden looked really good in the Don Blair #12. Too bad he let Cardey hole shot him on the restart. I would have liked to see him get Blair his first win in quite a while, but David did a great job and deserved the win. I'm sure the Blair team was glad to have Aden in the seat last night! Nothing against Brian Venard, but Aden can really drive the wheels off that car! Good luck John. We're rooting for you and the whole team to do well at Perris too.

A little trivia question. When did Blair's last owner win come and who was driving for him?

That is a great question! (And a tough one at that)

Looking back through the years the wins have been few and far between.

I am going to say Jerry Meyer in 1995. I am not sure where it was. I don't want to cheat and look it up. I will guess El Centro, Jerry Meyer, 1995, in the black car???

You know something? I just remembered about Rickie Gaunt winning his first SCRA race at Cottage Grove, Oregon in 1995. I am not sure if he was driving the family # 4g or the Mike Hasebe # 8??? It may have been the Don Blair black # 33????

I do remember Ron Shuman getting in Don's "purple" # 33 at Oildale one night and driving it to 6th or so in the feature. I also remember Ronnie Case winning the 2004 USAC Rookie of the Year title in the green # 33. J.J. Yeley used the Blair "green machine" at Ventura in 1996 that carried a #7 on it (for yeley owner points)

I JUST DONT KNOW!!!!!!!

Yep, it was Gaunt at Cottage Grove, if I'm not mistaken, he tipped it over in the winner's circle. Not sure about the color. I think it was either black or purple.

He's had a few notable guys in his cars.

Griffin jumped in Blair's car at the last race of 1996 after crashing the 50 car in qualifying, he crashed the 33 in his heat race. If not for that night, he would've probably retired a 6-time champ.

A question just came to my mind. Wasn't it Don Blair who owned the 23 car that Paul Sylvester drove in the late 70's and early 80's.? It could be that he just sponsored it but I was sure that he had some connection to that car.

Yep Super Rickie at Cottage Grove. It was his first non-wing sprint car win and he flipped it trying to imitate Bubby by doing donuts in victory lane. Dean Mills was rushing down from the press box to do the winners interview so the flip didn't get captured on camera. The crowd sure got a kick out of it. The car was Rickie's Drake renumbered to 113 and it was black. The Blair car was a green 13 at that time (They were trying to piss off Glen Howard who hated green cars and cars numbered 13). SCRA forced a number change to 113. It later changed to 33. The deal with JJ running the car as #7 came about because they ran Manzy 2 weeks apart with a Ventura race in the middle. Jack didn't want to drive over so the 33 car turned into the 7.

Rickie's first sprint car win was a winged GSC race at Santa Maria a couple years prior to Cottage Grove driving Danny P's Ford. It also happened in typical Rickie non-traditional fashion. It was a huggy pole race and I think it was Darrell Hanestad that passed him by driving through the infield on the last lap. Brent Kaeding ran 3rd and was screaming bloody murder. Danny P was happy to run 2nd. They told Danny he had 2 minutes to protest so Danny picked up a hot dog wrapper and wrote "I protest" on it. They said "Congradulations, You won!" They got the check but the other guy wouldn't give up the trophy so Rickie got a win but no trophy.

Bonus question - Who the slob was that scraped mud on the 113 car at Cottage Grove?

RichCee a question for you. Who was the last CRA/SCRA driver to win a GSC wing race in California? I don't have a clue.

That's kind of a hard question because there's a bunch of guys who qualify.  Kaeding (pick one), Peter Murphy, Tyler Walker and Damian Gardner spring to mind as candidates (did Damian win a NARC or GSC race?).  It gets narrowed down a bunch if you say the last person to win a GSC AND CRA/SCRA race because I would think the answer is Bud Kaeding.

I miss running with those wang guys although they tore the hell out of some race cars.  I remember Steve Kent in the Selma Shell car ran with us at Hanford.  Pushed off for qualifying in turn 4 and never made it to turn 2.  They used shovels to put that car back into the trailer.

Oh and call the cops because I think the original post has been officially hijacked.

Hey Tripcrwn, I'm gonna guess McSpadden or Shuman.
