Sullivan to represent additional race teams of Mendes, Taylor for remainder of 2008
PLACERVILLE, CA (7-25-08) – It was announced last week that public relations specialist Bill Sullivan will represent two additional Northern California racing teams for the remainder of the 2008 racing season.
The Rohnert Park based JMS Motor Sports team of Camron Mendes, driver of the 29x sprint car and the Roseville based John Taylor Motor Sports #35 Sprint Car team of Colby Wiesz will utilize the public relations and marketing services of Sullivan Images. Weekly press releases detailing each team’s success will be published on various internet venues, print media and will be broadcast to team sponsors in an effort to promote the progressive success of each team.
Camron Mendes is a first year sprint car driver residing in Rohnert Park, California. At the age of 17 he is competing weekly at Placerville Speedway in the hunt for the 2008 Rookie of the Year title and currently ranks 13th in the overall point standings. In addition to Placerville, Mendes is also competing in the 2008 Civil War Sprint Car Series.
John Taylor Motorsports is a two time Placerville Speedway and one time Civil War Series championship team owned by Roseville resident and former open wheel racer John Taylor. Former multi-time Marysville Raceway champion Colby Wiesz is the hired wheelman for the Taylor owned #35 Sprint Car. The team is currently leading the point standings at Placerville Speedway, looking for their third track title as an owner and the first track title for Wiesz as a driver.
Since 1987 Sullivan has been involved with motor sports journalism and promotion, beginning as a sports correspondent for the Mountain Democrat Newspaper and later was employed by the Reporter Newspaper and the Roseville Press Tribune. During his stint in print media he earned four professional awards with the Society of Professional Journalists and two awards with the California Newspaper Association. In 1992 he joined the John Padjen Motorsports stable, doing weekly race results and press releases and was named the Director of Communications for Padjen in 2002, performing and overseeing media relations for Placerville Speedway, the traveling Civil War Series and assisting with Silver Dollar Speedway and the Gold Cup Race of Champions.
In 2008 Sullivan became the Public Relations representative for Alissa Geving, the 16-year-old third generation racer from Penngrove who is the youngest female sprint car winner nationwide. Geving is currently seeking her first ever track championship at Petaluma Speedway and is the current top runner for the 2008 Civil War Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year Title.
In addition to Geving and the others, Sullivan has been providing public relations for the Placerville Police Officers Association Annual Charity Destruction Derby since 2003 when the historical event was lacking in annual funding and publicity and near extinction and is now nearly sold out annually and benefits various charities within El Dorado County.
In addition to racing teams and events, Sullivan provides Public Relations and marketing services for individuals and businesses, assisting with product awareness, branding and clientele development.
