Dang folks, you'd think the Outlaws got rained out a couple more times this weekend, sheesh. Heck, even I thought the locals would do better at the one place they show some competitiveness at on a regular basis. Is reality stating that they are falling that far behind? This is the one place in the country that is strong in the 410 ranks and has the most tracks from a proximity point of view, but dang.

I would be curious if some Posse Brethren could comment without this getting ugly. I know competitive racing is what's the most important and it appears you're still getting lots of that locally but how far have they fallen when racing the big dogs and why?

Have at it folks, surprise/educate me with your answers, thanks. Take It Easy.....

I think that is only one reason for the silence. The other reason (which may be even bigger) is that so many stated after Tuesday night that Steve was pissed and to look out. Well, I'm sure Donny was looking out as he lapped him last night. So many on here wanted to believe that Steve was going to go on some kind of magical run one last time and catch the guys ahead of him in points. Sorry, ain't gonna happen. He's still going to win once in awhile, but Donny, Craig, Meyers and Joey are just too good now. Others have as good of equipment as him now and just as good of crews working on that equipment.

Agree! I can also gaurentee you Donny was pissed the way he lost on Fri. and was also on a mission Sat. night. Craig and Jason are a little surprising to me. I didn't think they would still be this strong at this time of the year. Time will tell if they'll be able to keep it up all year and further down the road. It sure would be nice to have some of those guys ranting and raving about how those two were ahead of Schatz early in the year and say how they feel at this point of the season.

Silence is only eclipsed by your absence again Mikey.................thanx for comin' out!!! Great weekend of racing, tailgating and bench racing. The circus boyz had em' covered this weekend............no question. Fred made the dash last night only by good fortune, and was lucky to get out of the dash with 4 tires. WTF??

Weekend observations.................Schatz loves WG and runs it like he's a regular. Pittman used Donny on Friday like 3 day hankie in yur pocket.............funny how I turned into a Pittman fan so quickly.................I'm over it now.wink Recall on the initial feature start last night was questionable, and the restart saw Schatz between the 2 front row starters when they hit the chalk.............a little impartiality from the officials would be appreciated. I thought the pole sitter started the race. Nice run by Paul after getting his car junked Friday. McCarl hit everything on the track this weekend. Best cars to watch all weekend.............................Darrah and Madsen.

Umm, hey guys I know you're pumped etc. but I was trying to get some response from the PA crowd, especially those that have seen the Outlaw shows at the Grove this year.

Donny is the man to beat right now but ya' need to show a whole lot more respect to Steve not only from what he's done but at what age he's still doing it. A man that has the utmost respect for Steve and once chided me for something I said is none other than Danny Schatz, you guys need to heed some of his advice. Take It Easy.....

PS Thanks Drak, that's the input I'm lookin' for, my burnout on racing continues but I will test it in a couple of days, maybe next year the batteries will be recharged......

The pleasure was mine 71. Good night there at the E on Thursday, except for that massive dude doing a cartwheel into my head!! Please do your best to get to the Natty O and NOT bring 5 inches of rain in 24 hours, we'll do our best to do it right again this year.

Two reasons IMO that the Outlaws dominated this weekend. The Grove's track was extremely dry, but was still racey enough to allow for passing. However, these are not the track condiditions we have seen at the Grove this year. The Outlaws see these conditions at every track they visit and are used to them. This was extremely evident in both A mains each night as most every Outlaw car went forward and most every Posse car went backwards. The second reason and this is very clear with the Posse's best car. I've seen time and time again this season where Fred Rahmer was not going to win the race and got a yellow flag at just the right time. Fred was able to adjust his car under the yellow and nail the setup, and go on to win the race. However, cockpit adjusters are not allowed for Outlaw shows. It really shows come A main time when you got what you got. These beatings will likely continue as long as our weekly shows keep allowing cockpit adjusters. Go Brian!

I agree with alot of people. Just because our favorite is the same guy means nothing. Apparentely you've never agreed with anyone? I like Schatz more for where he's from than what he does. Being raised in N.D., it's nice to see someone making some noise from the state.

Talking with Danny and Diane, yeah, they have alot of respect for the guy. Let it be at that. Some things are better left unsaid. Something maybe Steve could have tried next time.

Tough weekend overall for the hometown boys, but hey it is the best in the bidness they were racing. Nothing but respect from me towards the WoO, but I hold that respect for every driver no matter where they race.

Had a great time again this weekend shooting both nights, as always. The energy was electric again both nights although Friday night was quite a weird one with a lot of pieces that ended up broken till the night was over. But the crowd on Friday night when Johnny Gibson was yelling out his famous call signal before the A main start was deafening to say the least!

Couldn't agree more with Drak's comments on the weekend.

But I'd also like to give a shout out to Chad Kemenah (3rd) and local Alan Krimes (9th) for their efforts on Friday night, great run guys!!

Hey Chris (gasitup) glad to see you are coming in again for the Natty Open this year, now you need to get Bryan and Jen to come along in!!!!

I think the Posse has lost their mojo because their #1 fan, MSPN, doesn't come to cheer them on anymore. Oh well, there's still the National Open.

i was not at the track last night - was playing at the club (no movies sorry) - but i understand the racing was good from the usual suspects theat provided updates along the way.

i took Kemenah on the pool on friday and he ran well until he slid up high in 3-4 for several laps and looked to be fighting for dear life. he was fast but the handling was just not there.

I agree with the sentiments above. The combination of no cockpit adjustment, a dry slick track, and a the best racers in the country we're too much. I think the track plays the biggest part, our local shows have been on HEAVY tracks all year. Many nights, the racing has been so fast in the heats that passing is impossible, but by feature time it's fast and racy. As was mentioned, that was an Outlaw track to a T, and it was a racy track, but it's just not one the locals excel on vs the Outlaws. I think the home field advantage is negated by the Outlaw track prep. I remember last year the locals didn't do so well during the summer when the track was slick (other than the 71 win), but come Nationals time when the weather is much cooler and the track much heavier, the Posse was Very competitive (1st, 2nd, 5th prelim - 2nd, 3rd, 5th Final). My $.02

I believe The Grove also allows 1 additional tire compound than the WoO. No one, WoO or Posse, could get the bottom to come in during the feature. If that additional compound was allowed some of the "ice skating" in the last 10 laps may have produced two or three grooves of racing.

All in all a good two nights of racing - heats were fun and the feature had passing and traffic.

I think that is only one reason for the silence. The other reason (which may be even bigger) is that so many stated after Tuesday night that Steve was pissed and to look out. Well, I'm sure Donny was looking out as he lapped him last night. I think the reference to the equipment and teams in that post also answers the local drivers problem against the Outlaws this year. Everyone is feeling the economic down turn to some extent, but you can't tell me that Quaker State can't supply more funds then Miller Bros Chevrolet (Rahmer), Budweiser probably has a few more dollars than J&S Fabrication (Hodnett), etc... Also, full time crews vs local help after work...in theory, who's gonna be better prepared? With that said, I don't think the local teams are just going to roll over for the Nationals, but when they aren't even running the same rules anymore, it makes it tough to compete when you already start out with less money and resources. Honestly, if they're going to run against the Outlaws, PA either needs to get rid of in-car adjustments (have the same rules, but I'd much rather the Outlaws still have them), or stop running WoO sanction events (Pay the same or bigger purses, but keep it non-sanctioned with PA time trial rules). It seems to me, the PA teams and Williams Grove would have the bargaining chip there, since I think the WoO need Williams Grove a lot more than Williams Grove needs them. Look at the crowd for the $30k to win dream race last year as evidence, PA fans will support the drivers and big races, sanction or not. I'm also willing to bet, that if they started paying that much money for the occasional local show, outsiders would certainly show and you'd get some big names. One more question, since the Knoxville Nationals are non-sanctioned, will in-car adjustments be allowed, or do they follow Outlaw rules? I hope it's the former, the sport was built on innovation and I hate that the WoO keep taking that away from teams.
